Josh’s eyes were on mine, his smile sad. ‘I don’t want this to end,’ he said quietly, and my heart leapt a little.
‘Neither do I,’ I sighed. ‘Does it have to?’
‘I don’t think it should.’
‘Does that mean we could be long-distance?’ I asked. ‘Would that even work?’
‘I think it’s worth a try. What’s a plane ride away, anyway?’
‘It’s nothing. A few hours.’
His smile widened. ‘So we’re going to give this a go?’
I nodded. ‘I don’t want this to be just one memory.’
As we said goodbye for as long as we could, I knew I wouldn’t change a thing about my winter in wonderland. And if they’d have me, I’d treat myself to a trip here every Christmas. Because it had certainly changed me, in the best possible way.
