“Just one stool, thanks so much.”

Will stopped himself from laughing as he watched the man move seats.

Morgan didn’t seem to notice the annoyed look she’d earned. “I’m not really one to get into other people’s business,” she began. “But it seemed like you and Amanda really had a great thing going. What happened?”

“Honestly, I’m not sure. She told me that she was seeing someone. And after the whole Lenny incident, it seems like she wants nothing to do with me.”

Morgan narrowed her eyes. “I see.”

They sat in silence for a moment until Morgan spoke again. “Because between you and me, I think she really likes you.”

He turned toward her. “Really?”

She nodded. “Yeah, Amanda just isn’t great with feelings. Like, honestly she’s pretty bad at expressing herself.”

“So how can you know?”

“I just…have a hunch.”

“Ah.”

She leaned in. “There’s really only one way to know for sure.”

He nodded. “Right. You mean we should tell her that I’m in danger and see if she comes to my rescue again?”

Morgan grabbed his arm. “I have an idea.”

“Uh, I don’t think we should lie to – ”

“Shh! Hang on, it needs a second to come together.”

Will stared at her. “Do – ”

“Ssh!” After a moment she spoke again. “Okay. Yes, I definitely have an idea. The question is…how far are you willing to go?”

“I’ll do anything.”

Morgan smiled. “That’s what I like to hear.”
