“Hey. Can I come in?” she asked.

“Of course,” he replied.

“Looks like you’re all packed and ready to go,” she observed, gesturing at the luggage.

“Yeah. The driver will be here soon.”

“Well, you’re taking your own private jet. I’m sure it’ll wait if you’re a few minutes late. We need to talk.”

He sighed and said, “Yeah, fine. Let’s go sit in the living room. Can I get you something to drink?”

“I’m fine, thanks,” she replied. They plopped onto the couch. “Listen, Finn, I’ve been thinking about what you said last night, and I know you didn’t mean it.”

“Savannah . . .”

“It’s been good between us.”

“I’ve been away doing films for most of our relationship. If I hadn’t been on the road nonstop, we never would have . . .”

“I’ve kept your bed warm, haven’t I?” she asked, touching his hand.

“Savannah . . .”

“Finn, we’ve been together for nearly two years. You can’t just throw that away.”

“I’m not. I’ve tried to make things work. The truth is that we should have split up a long time ago. It’s not right between us, and I don’t think it ever was. We’ve just been biding our time, spinning our wheels. Our relationship isn’t going anywhere.”

“Babe, I’ve told you before, I want to move in with you. Think about it! No more house sitters when you’re on the road—I’ll be here. We can get married in a big blowout bash. I saw the most incredible ring in the window at Cartier. I can text you a picture of it, and . . .”

“Savannah . . .”

“We’re perfect for each other,” she continued, playfully running her hand up his arm and through his light brown hair. “You need someone who doesn’t care that you’re always off doing movies, someone who looks the part and can accompany you down the red carpet and do the whole Hollywood glamour thing.”

“I don’t care about that stuff. Never have.”

“Don’t be silly. Of course you do,” she said, fluffing her blonde hair. “I know what this is really about. When I got home last night, I was thinking to myself,Why is Finn doing this now when everything is so perfect?”

“It’s not perfect, not to me,” he said softly.

Ignoring his comment, she continued, “You’re going to be away on location for three long months. You’re worried that if you’re attached, you won’t be able to have sex.”

“That’s what you think?” he asked.

“Babe, I know what your sexual appetite is like,” she said, tousling his hair. “You’re a big star, you don’t see why you should go without. I get it. So, I’ve decided you can get blow jobs.”

“What?” he bellowed, his eyes wide.

“I know that local girls and extras always hit on you. My God, you’re Finn Forrester, after all! Everyone wants you, and well they should. Why should you have to go without basic satisfaction? I’m cool with it.”

“You’re cool with me being intimate with other women? Do you even hear yourself? This is exactly the problem. Think about . . .”

“Babe, I’m just being realistic and trying to give you what you want. You’re a big movie star, of course you need to be allowed to bend the rules. I’d have a problem with it if you fuck other women, but if you want to get your dick sucked a few times, it’s fine. I totally get it. Now that this problem is solved, there’s no reason to break up. Go makeyour film and get your rocks off if you need to. Think of me. When you get back, we can focus on us and our future.”

He shook his head in disbelief. “Savannah, this isn’t what I want.”

“There’s no reason to do anything rash. We’ve had two years together. We’ve been happy. Just wait until you come back before you make any decisions. I’m sure you’ll feel differently once you see how much you miss me and you realize how cool this arrangement is. Not every woman would be this understanding. Everything I do is all for you.”

“I don’t even know how to respond to this.”
