“Never going to happen. If I hadn’t been so fucking sloshed that night, it wouldn’t have happened that night either,” Jackson grumbled, shaking his head.
“Actually, sir, you were more than sloshed. You were pissed because you saw your ex here with another man. Kept drinking the heavy shit!” Brad ratted out Jackson, laughing.
“Aw! If it isn’t the asshole who broke my best friend’s heart!”
CHAPTER
FIVE
Trish walked out of the restroom to see Lola talking to none other than Jackson Anderson himself. W.T.F! She sauntered over to the table and glared at Jackson as she tried to pull Lola away from the group.
“I’d like a chance to break yours, sexy.”
“Mmm. I bet you say that to all the hookers you try to pick up, little man.”
Trish couldn’t help but cough to hide her laughter. Yet it didn’t faze the man Lola made the statement to. He just laughed as he stood up and put out his hand.
“Bradley Johnson. I’m the asshole’s roommate. I don’t think I’ve ever met you. I’m sure I would have remembered seeing a beauty like you around.”
Trish couldn’t help but laugh at Brad’s advance on Lola. Despite what Jackson did to her, she had always liked Brad.
“Trish, how are you?”
Trish looked at Jackson in confusion. Was he seriously trying to talk to her after what he’d done to her?
“Jackson! I’m doing amazing. Sorry, I didn’t see you sitting there. I can see that you are too,” Trish simply stated, rubbingher hands against the back of her jeans to keep from reaching out to touch him.
“Care to dance?”
Trish jumped back at the question. Did this mother fucker just ask her to dance in front of everyone after all of the bullshit he’s put her through? She must be drunker than she thought.
“She’d love to. Bradley, I do believe you owe me a dance, handsome.” Lola pulled Bradley to the dance floor.
Trish looked up at the ceiling cursing her best friend mentally. What the hell is this crazy bitch getting her into now.
Trish didn’t pull back when Jackson led her to the dance floor. Of course, they would be playing a slow number as soon as they hit the dance floor. Trish looked over to see Lola in Bradley’s arms, flirting. This bitch was going to owe her. Big fucking time.
She allowed Jackson to pull her into his arms as they swayed to the music. She couldn’t resist looking up at his face to see what his reaction was currently. He seemed to be of the same frame of mind as her since he was looking down at her.
“You look good tonight,” Jackson murmured down to her, looking into her eyes.
“Thank you. Same for you. Haven’t seen you around in a while.”
Well shit! Why did she go and say that to the blasted man. Yep, she was drunk as shit. No other explanation for it.
“Yeah. We just got back from a six-month deployment. We were only supposed to be gone a month or two, but we volunteered to stay longer. We just got back today.”
Trish nodded as she looked away from Jackson and towards where her best friend was now playing tongue twister with the man she was dancing with. Well, shit! Guess Lola found who she wanted to do the mattress mambo with for the night.
“Look, Trish, I know I hurt you. If it’s any consolation, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you…”
Trish pulled away from Jackson and headed towards the restroom to get away from him. Storming into one of the stalls, she sat on the toilet and put her face into her hands. Her emotions were all over the place with the man. What the fuck was he trying right now? He couldn’t stop thinking of her? Bullshit! She knew for a fact he was fucking his way through the damn bar.
Finishing up her business, she wiped down her eyes and exited the stall to find a chick leaning against the bathroom counter staring her way. Ignoring the glare the woman gave to her, she moved to the side and washed her hands.
“Leave my man alone, bitch. You’re nothing but a whore who likes to steal men. I’m pregnant with his baby.”
Trish couldn’t help but laugh. Leaning her hands down onto the counter, she leaned forward and laughed. Looking up when the door opened, she saw Lola walk into the bathroom.
