“Worked up a big appetite before deciding to show up?” Lola quipped, earning her a kick from Trish under the table.
“Yep. And I need the fuel for tonight. Have a lot to celebrate. Oh, which reminds me…”
“What are we celebrating?” Cooper asked, looking towards Jackson confused.
“Bradley, when it’s time to renew the lease, I won’t be renewing it with you. I’m moving in with Trish, ASAP.”
“That works, I’m going to be moving in with Lola, too. We’d only shown up a few minutes before you two did.”
Jackson looked over at Bradley who was grinning from ear to ear while Lola was slightly blushing as Trish glared at her for daring to make digs at them for being late. He couldn’t help but laugh as he pulled Trish backwards against him.
“Congrats, brother. I’m happy for you both! We all have a lot to celebrate tonight.”
CHAPTER
NINETEEN
Trish rolled over in the middle of the night to see Jackson sleeping peacefully. They’d had a few months of no issues. Jackson and his boys got deployed the day after their triple date and were gone for a week and a half. The first night, she reached out to Lola to see if she and Tiffany were off and if they wanted to have a girl’s slumber party.
Lola and Tiffany had shown up after work and they all got into their PJ’s and watched several movies and had drinks and popcorn. They talked about what it was like that first night or two after the guys would be deployed and decided this would be their routine, as long as they all had the night off.
She’d come to realize Tiffany wasn’t a bad person. She just cared too much and that made her an easy target for someone like Valarie. Just in the few days that she’s been hanging around with her and Lola, they’ve seen a new spark shine in Tiffany’s eyes. She was finally coming out of her shell.
When Jackson came home last night, she had been in the kitchen making something to eat for dinner. She never heard the door open or him come into the room. She was so distracted with thinking about the raid they were finally approved of doingtomorrow, that’s when Jackson’s arms came around her and he said hello. She’d used one of the maneuvers he’d taught her on him, nearly taking him down.
When she realized it was him, dinner was forgotten. She kissed him like a starving woman who’d been deprived of oxygen for months. Round one happened in the kitchen, on the kitchen floor. Round two was in the shower. After round three, they had fallen into a deep sleep before it was even ten pm. She still hadn’t told him about the raid she was going to be a part of tomorrow.
She couldn’t help but worry. Tomorrow they were working side by side with the local FBI, DEA and the ATF in taking down one of the most dangerous gangs to ever cross their border. It was going to be very dangerous no matter what precautions they took. Delbert and Rover were already determined they were keeping her safe, no matter what. But even then, there were no guarantees.
“What are you thinking about so hard over there?” Jackson’s gruff voice sounded behind her.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.” Trish turned over and snuggled more into Jackson.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours, babe?” Jackson asked, as he squeezed her tightly.
“Just work. Things are heating up with the case finally. Despite the craziness of the case, we’ve managed to close three others on good notes. The task force has brought in a couple of agents from the FBI, DEA, and ATF. So, it’s getting bonkers.”
“That’s good. Then maybe you’ll be able to close that case sooner rather than later as you all assumed.”
Trish couldn’t help but smile weakly when Jackson started rubbing her arm as he kissed her on the top of her head. If only he knew. She was still debating internally if she should tell him or hold off. She knew how she worried when he was deployed, despite not being able to know what he was doing. She didn’twant to worry him all day at work knowing they were getting ready to do a raid. He needed his rest since he would have a busy day with the stuff they had to do after a deployment.
“Yeah. That would be nice. One less thing to worry about. Go back to sleep. You need your rest,” Trish told him softly, kissing his chest.
“So do you, babe.”
“I’m too wired right now to fall asleep.”
Famous last words. Jackson had her on her back before she knew what was happening. His face was between her legs, making her moan and then scream his name. Before she came down from that orgasm, he was inside her, fucking into her hard and fast. Just how she liked it sometimes. He always seemed to know what she needed.
When she woke up several hours later, Jackson was gone, but a rose lay on his pillow with a note. Who knew that Jackson Anderson was a true romantic at heart?
Glad you were able to finally fall asleep, beautiful. You looked so peaceful laying there I couldn’t bring myself to wake you up. If you need anything, please, call me. I can’t wait to see you tonight. ~J
She didn’t know how she got so lucky. Looking at the clock, she sighed deeply and got up, getting ready for the day. It was going to be a long one. That was for sure.
