“Well, shit! That’s ballsy as fuck, them putting that out there like that,” Delbert sighed, scratching his head. “Has command been notified of this development?”

“Heading there now. Was thinking you two would like to join us as we give our report, adding in your own,” Rover advised the two of them.

“Let’s bogey,” Trish hopped up, grabbing the file with the notes for the case.

CHAPTER

SIXTEEN

Jackson was closing his locker door when Bradley came up to him, rubbing the towel over his face of the sweat from their workout. He and the guys all worked out at the base gym after they shut down for the day before going home when they weren’t on missions.

“That crazy chick came by the apartment last night. Not sure how the fuck she found out where we lived. But she wasn’t happy when I told her you weren’t there.”

“What the fuck? Where’s Cooper?” Jackson asked as he slammed the locker door.

“Yeah, man?”

“Did you tell that Valarie chick where I lived?” Jackson asked, his voice going dark.

“Fuck no. I told Tiffany the bitch isn’t even allowed at our place. She gives me the fucking creeps.”

“She showed up at the apartment last night looking for me. She’s never been to the place before, so someone had to have told her where I lived. I haven’t been to any clubs since Trish and I decided to give things another try.”

“Thank fucking God!” the men on his team all said at the same time.

“Yeah, the fucker has been staying at her place the last two weeks,” Bradley outed him. “He’s getting laid on the regular now.”

“Explains why the stick that’s been up his ass two years isn’t there anymore,” Peters cheered, smacking Jackson on the back.

“Aww, Peters here likes the idea of everyone running two extra miles tomorrow.” Jackson announced, smacking Peters upside the back of his head. “Cooper, check with your girl, find out if she told the psycho where I lived. I know she’s been to the apartment once or twice with you. If so, deal with it.”

“I’ll deal with it. She’s a sweet girl. Means well. Valarie has some kind of control over her though. Can’t figure out what it is. It’s like she’s scared of the woman,” Cooper admitted.

“Maybe she’s threatening her at work. Find out and get back to me. If that’s the case, we’ll deal with it.”

“On it. Plans for tonight?” Cooper asked, chuckling at the look on Jackson’s face.

“Yeah. Double date night with Bradley and his girl. Apparently, he’s hot for Lola, Trish’s best friend.”

“What can I say. The woman is a goddess. In and out of the bed. And she cooks like one too.” Bradley smirked over at Jackson, wiggling his eyebrows.

“Perv!” Jackson laughed as he threw his towel at Bradley.

“How about we make it a triple date? Me and Tiff can join. Then you guys can talk to her. She works with Lola at the hospital too. Maybe she can help Tiff open up about how Valarie is at work.”

Jackson and Bradley looked at each other for several seconds before they both nodded. Jackson made a mental note to give Trish a heads up, hoping like hell Bradley did the same with Lola before they all got together.

Once he and Bradley had given Cooper the heads up where they were all going, they also made it clear not to give Tiffany a heads up before they got there. They didn’t want Valarie to show up and ruin the night. He would have to become a major asshole if she did.

Heading to Trish’s place, he sent her a quick text to let her know he was off and heading to her place. She texted back a few seconds later to give him the heads up she was just now clocking out and would meet him at the house in a few.

Great news. Means they would be able to get a round in before they went out tonight. Fuck, he couldn’t keep his hands off her. He admitted to Bradley the other day he was fast moving towards possibly moving in with her and finally getting the nerve up to ask her to marry him. He wanted Bradley’s ok to ask Lola to go with him to help pick out Trish’s ring. He knew what she would like, but he wanted Lola’s help in making it extra special. A woman’s point of view.

SEVENTEEN

Trish stepped out of the shower and started toweling her hair dry. When she got home, Jackson was already there. Today had been a long day of dealing with politics while working side by side with gangs and homicide. The new chief decided to create a task force with her, Delbert, Rover, his team, and the two detectives in homicide. He wanted the gang taken down and dealt with.
