“Nice to meet you. I’m coming by, not just to introduce myself, but also because I’m facing a bit of a problem.”
“How can I help?” Miss Price regarded him intently, head tilted and hands clasped.
“River seems to have gone non-verbal. This has never happened before and while they didn’t want to disappoint their friends, neither of us feel comfortable with me leaving them here alone while this is happening.”
“We are a pre-school, Mister Shepphard. While we understand the need sometimes to stay for a few minutes, it is not common practice for us to allow caregivers to stay for the entire time.”
“I understand that, and if an exception can’t be made we’ll figure something else out, but they really wanted to spend time with the friends they made this morning.” Dave looked back to find River still sucking their paci and nodding happily to something. He smiled before turning back to the teacher. “Perhaps I could stay for a time, let them get a bit more comfortable and if by the end of that time, they aren’t able to be left, we’ll do something else.”
“I don’t see the harm in that. Fifteen minutes.”
Dave nodded his head, grateful for Miss Price’s acquiescence. Heading back to River, he chuckled at the way the gaggle of Littles had their heads together. The group fell silent as he approached, and River turned to him with a smile so bright it made their face glow. God they were gorgeous, and he thanked his stars they were his. He bent down and told River, “Miss Priceis letting me stay but just for a bit. If you’re still not ready to be alone here when the time is up, that’s okay. We’ll find something else to do. Okay?”
One of Rivers arms loosened from around Rhett and wrapped around Dave’s leg as they nodded their understanding, and as they pulled away to return their attention to their friends, they were none the wiser that they’d taken Dave’s whole heart with them.
River
So many were in on the Pirate Day shenanigans. They’d had no idea how elaborate the planning for the event was until getting here and finding everyone gathered. The plans they had in place would be the most fun River had ever had. They were just nervous about possible repercussions. They’d never been involved in something like this, but as each person spoke, their excitement was contagious and River found themself anticipating their own role.
They had the most important role of all, in their opinion, and they were honored to be trusted with such a task. They took the treasure handed to them and put it under the bib of their overalls. They’d have to keep it secret and complete their task quickly. They didn’t want to chance Daddy finding it and ruining things.
For the time that Daddy was allowed to stay, they had the most fun they could with their friends. They smiled and nodded and not a single person seemed to mind that they weren’t speaking. They didn’t even bring it up, as if it was a normal occurrence. But like all good things, it eventually came to an end.
Daddy made his way over to them, and River tried to stifle the dread they felt knowing Daddy would have to leave but with each step he took their dread grew until they’d worked themselves into a panic. Before Daddy even had a chance to speak, they’d latched on to his leg, wrapping both their arms and legs around the appendage and holding tight.
“I take this to mean you don’t want to stay?” Daddy’s declaration sounded more like a question so River answered with a firm shake of their head. “Okay, baby. Let’s get your things and say goodbye to your friends.”
While Daddy got their bag and went to tell Miss Price what was happening River waved to their friends. They giggled when Tay reminded them, “Complete yer mission, matey or walk the plank!”
River gave a thumbs up and a wink as Daddy came back and they took his hand and headed out of the room. As they made their way down the hall, River started tugging Daddy’s hand. They knew exactly what they wanted to do and it would not only let them spend time with Daddy but also complete their mission. It was perfect.
CHAPTER 18
Dave
There was something in River’s eyes as they looked at him. Something he wasn’t sure if he was imagining or not. He hardly dared to breathe or blink for fear of it disappearing. One moment, they’d been playing a game of hide and seek, enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, and being outdoors. After River popped out from behind a tree, giving away her choice of a hiding place, the game changed into a simple chase. Then, he’d caught them around the waist and time seemed to stand still as they turned to face him, still wrapped in his arms.
There was enough heat in their gaze to light a bonfire. Their breathing was heavy and they kept looking between his eyes and his lips. He raised one arm and gripped the back of River’s neck, feeling their rapid pulse beat beneath his fingers. They erased the small amount of space between them and when Dave felt their body flush against his, he couldn’t have stopped what happened next if his life depended on it.
Dave lowered his lips to River’s, running his tongue along the seam of their lips and groaning at the unique and enticingflavor of them. Immediately River’s arms went around Dave’s neck, their fingers spearing into the hair at the nape of his neck. Their mouth opened for him and Dave stroked their tongue with his. River gave as good as they got, stroking and tangling the tongues together, sucking his into their mouth in a move Dave desperately wished they’d repeat on his dick. Dave nipped at River’s lips and growled when they whimpered and rubbed their lower belly to his erection.
He hadn’t realized he’d moved them until River’s back hit the trunk of a tree, but it was the perfect opportunity to grip River’s lush ass and lift them to a better position. River wrapped their legs around his hips and moaned into his mouth as he ground his rock-hard cock against their core and he swallowed the sound, savoring it and going back for more.
Pinning them to the tree with his body, Dave let his hands roam from River’s ass up their sides until he reached their upper chest and found their pebbled nipples. He stroked and tweaked the buds until River’s back arched and their legs tightened to grind harder on Dave’s erection. He knew there was a reason he should pull back some but damned if he could think of what that reason was when River uttered the first words since they’d woken up. They ripped their lips away to moan out, “Yes! God, yes, Daddy!”
One of their hands traveled down his chest and over his jeans to grip his throbbing length through the denim and Dave let out a low groan that was almost a growl. Even with the material between them, River’s touch felt so fucking good he had to fight back his need to come in his pants.
“Jesus, that feels so fucking good, baby.” He closed his eyes and raised his head trying to get himself under control. When he opened his eyes again, he remembered why he needed to cool this down. They were outside, in the open, where anyone could walk by. With another groan, this one more than a littleagonized, Dave gripped River’s hips, holding them still. “We need to stop.”
River was laying kisses along his jaw and throat and it was the best kind of torture. “Don’t wanna,” they said and continued their trail down his throat.
“Baby, we’re outside, in public.” As much as it pained him to say it, they really couldn’t continue out here.
River’s own groan of disappointment reverberated in his throat before they finally pulled their head back and looked into his eyes. They took a deep breath and closed their eyes. Then, they looked back at him and said, “I’m not so sure I care.”
“When I finally get to sink deep inside you, baby, it’s not going to be in a rush, against a tree. I’m going to take my time with you, bring you so much pleasure you won’t remember your own name. When I finally have your heavenly body, it won’t be until I’ve scrambled your brain and brought you enough pleasure that it’s seeped into your soul, leaked out of your body, and everything you are wants only one thing. To bemine.”
With that, Dave gently unwrapped River’s legs and stepped back, keeping hold of them until he was certain they could stand on their own. After a few moments of concentrated breathing, River straightened up and looked around for a moment. Their fingers tapped their chin in contemplation as they studied their surroundings.
