“It can be a workout for sure,” Cameron said with a smile. “We better get out of the way for the next scene. I’ll show you around backstage.”
“Cool.”
Or not so cool, as it turned out, because while Cameron was showing him the rigging for the curtains, Omar noticed Diego sitting in front of Mindy while she worked on his makeup. His back was to him, and Omar planned on keeping it that way, so he nudged Cameron and pointed in the opposite direction. “What’s over there?”
“That’s where I do my thing.”
“Let’s check it out.”
The corner they went to looked more like shop class than theater. Which is exactly where most of the tools had come from, he soon found out. Omar kept the lens pointed at Cameron as he explained what everything was used for. Anthony was going to be over the moon!
“What’s under there?” Omar asked, panning the camera down to a boxy, cloth-covered shape. “Some sort of secret experiment?”
Cameron didn’t answer. He was making a slitting motion across his throat with a finger.
“Most people just say cut,” Omar teased before lowering the camera. “What’s up?”
“Is it really off?” Cameron said, his attention still on the camcorder.
“Yup.”
“Okay.” Now those blues eyes were pleading with him. “Can you keep a secret?”
“Probably.”
“From Anthony?”
“Nope!”
Cameron opened his mouth. Then he closed it again.
“Unless that box is for him,” Omar said, throwing him a bone.
“It is.” Cameron sounded kind of breathless. “I’ve been stressing about his Christmas present, and nobody knows him better than you do, so I’d really like to get your opinion. But I want to surprise him.”
“That’s doable,” Omar said. “I can keep my trap shut until Friday.”
This seemed to satisfy Cameron, who pulled off the cloth, revealing a nightstand, of all things. He kept walking around it, pointing out different details while talking about all the work that he’d done. Omar didn’t understand half of it and didn’t need to. The sentiment was more than clear.
“You really love him, huh?” he asked with a grin.
“Anthony?” Cameron nodded. “More than anything.”
“That’s so rad, dude! I always wanted him to find a girl who was crazy about him, but this is even better. I bet everything is easier when it’s two guys.”
Cameron made a face. “What do you mean?”
“All of it. Girls are tough to figure out. You don’t have to worry about any of that. I bet sex is a no-brainer. Are you desperate to bone him or what?”
“Oh.” Cameron chuckled nervously. “I’m ready for that, yeah. When he is too.”
Omar scoffed. “You don’t seem like you’re in much of a hurry. If I was gay for Anthony, I’d be hitting him up for sex each and every day. Like when we meet at my place before school? Blow job. And after school? Another blow job. Or maybe some butt stuff. I’d be all over it, man!”
Cameron laughed. “You’dthinkit would be that way. And maybe we’ll get there eventually. But I want it to be emotional. And special. For him.”
Omar understood. As horny as he was for Silvia, what he wanted even more than sex was for her to say that she loved him. Although it was a close race. If she said it while they were sleeping together, his head would explode.
“So anyway…” Cameron’s face was red. “What do you think? Will he like it?”
