It was a good compromise and made her feel better about her decision to share his bed.
It turned out, the conversation with the kids a week ago hadn’t been much of anything. Neither cared that they were sleeping in the same bed. They thought Stone and Taryn were simply laying their heads down next to each other every night.
Of course, the biggest issue that came up was from Sunny complaining about sharing her room with a six-year-old boy. She was not happy about having a “baby” sleeping in her room.
Stone flat out told her to “suck it up.”
No surprise, that only made his daughter more cranky about the situation. Which, in turn, made him more cranky.
Luckily, Wren considered sharing Sunny’s room more of a fun adventure since he’d always wanted a sibling.
Taryn tried to stay out of that whole conversation that morning since she felt bad that Sunny wasn’t happy about the situation. But with only two bedrooms in the house, their options were limited.
Good thing the living situation wouldn’t last forever.
“Whatcha doin’ Sunday?”
“I thought about taking the day off. I could use a break.” The last two weeks had been a whirlwind with moving out of her house, putting it up for sale, moving in with Stone, and having to pivot with her business.
“Agreed. You been kickin’ ass. Got the perfect break for you.”
“What’s that?” She expected him to say that they would spend the day in bed. Even though, in reality, that would be impossible with the kids around.
“Goin’ for a run. Want you to come with.”
Her brow dropped low. “You run? Do you even own a pair of sneakers?”
He shot her a look which clearly said,what-the-fuck?“Not that kinda run. On my sled.”
“Why?”
“Why the fuck not? It’s somethin’ the club does on a regular basis when the weather’s good.”
“Will it be the whole club?”
“For the most part. No prospects or sweet butts. But any patched members available.”
Taryn wondered what made any of them unavailable. A lot of them lived at The Castle and seemed to not have to leave for actual jobs. In fact, it didn’t seem like Stone or his brothers followed any kind of schedule at all.
They had managed to turn a hobby into a complete lifestyle.
The few times she’d been on the back of his bike, it had been for the quick trip between The Castle and his house. Even in that short amount of time, she could see the appeal of “having the wind in my face and my knees in the breeze” as Stone explained on more than one occasion.
So, yes, she’d love to go for a longer ride with him. Onlyone thing—more like two small things—stopped her from immediately agreeing. “What about the kids?”
“Can get someone to stay with them for the time we’d be gone.”
She groaned. “A sweet butt?” Their whole living arrangement was questionable enough, she really didn’t want a woman used by the club for sex to be babysitting. She had to draw a line somewhere. Even if that line was a bit wonky.
She shook her head. “I can ask my mother to come stay at the house.” At least her mother wouldn’t be wearing a skirt short enough to show off her butt cheeks.
“Guessin’ that’s a yes.”
“As long as she’s free.”
“If she ain’t and you don’t want a sweet butt hangin’ at the house, can get one of the prospects.”
As if that was any better. But life had been so crazy lately, she could really use the break. Going for a motorcycle ride might clear her head. It also might stave off the impending dread of Vic’s upcoming release, at least for a little while. “How long are these runs?”
