He freezes then nods. “IT is already on the players. Web has teams working on it the minute it hits his hologram boards.” He types and I see the hologram board pop up on the split screen. “You can watch as they find information but our job was collection. We plan surveillance and collect intel. It’s like phase one. Phase two will be when they hit the next truck. Our reaction is based on their next move.” Training for Delta tells me to stay on the phase I’m in until it’s complete but planning is different than doing ops. I need to keep everyone safe.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. “We need the intel for the next move.”

He smiles. “We do but we need that intel from everyone. Follow the hologram boards and you’ll see the international and the south intel show up.”

I will? “Marks said it will show. This is what he meant? We don’t have to dig for anything? Motive and possible strikes aren’t identified with what we sent over.”

“No, you have a team behind you here and it’s worldwide. This wouldn’t be considered a small job like you’ve been on. This is international because the general manufactured and manipulated outcomes in other countries.”

Okay. “We’ve dealt with the disgraced general but it wasn’t a big job. We just stopped and planned missions based off local reactions.”

His demeanor changes to more relaxed. “I see where this doesn’t work in your head. Your team is bigger but you’re running as if you’re still on small jobs. Badass is CENTCOM, Phoenix is your Command and your Club is your Control. We all run on SOPs that fit into the other Clubs SOPs and never go against the Badass SOP which is the Bible.”

I nod. “Got it. So, I can watch intel any time and make notes and list questions for phase two but I’m not required to provide the intel.”

He laughs. “No, Brother, we have whole Clubs and departments that do that shit. We all have lives and work but live too. It’s a many hands concept.” Many hands make light work.

Now I laugh. “I love it here. Okay, so I’ll relax. The little stuff is easy for us but not living the jobs takes some getting used to.”

I see it in his eyes. “It does but everyone here is committed to the job so you can trust the intel and BSC, Brother. The north, south and international are all guarded Clubs. It takes work but we put that work in. The Oklahoma Club isn’t normal for us. The challenge came from outside influences manipulating an IT Officer that the readers still say didn’t know about the splitter on the server.”

I don’t pretend to know what that entails but nod. “Asa told me. Oklahoma didn’t change my opinion. I trust the BSC because it was corrected within days. No one skirted blame, even the seers thought they missed it and went back. While in, we were dropped with few props and supplies and were expected to do a job with an objective and always the no embarrassment order. We’d do the job and find a way home. We didn’t get intel or much that was accurate so we provided it with our debriefing reports. This new is having whole departments behind us.”

He laughs. “We got your back, Brother. I’m glad you went from coma to President but I think you missed some training in Badass with the fast track.”

I smile big for that one. “I was learning to walk so I’m sure I missed a lot. Every Club and every department is open to us. I heard it ascall anyone for anything. It doesn’t line up with military. Military is all I know. I was a shit farmer.”

He cracks up and signs off.

I walk out smiling. We made a profit only because the workers knew the job and they were good. Texas was hot as hell and drained the life out of me and the partners. Irrigation, fertilizing by plane and anything in the air-conditioned office or shop was my job. I’m sure that’s so no one had to hear me bitching about the weather.

Shadow sends me a big thumbs up making me laugh.

I almost run when I see Cort. With Shadow beside me and my ability to run in question, I stay put.

The laugh has me noticing the Brother on the side of Cort. I’ve seen him before, no, the emerald eyes, hair is Teller. “Ben Knight, President of Princes of Prophecy, President of Territories for Badass, Teller and Aylen’s dad and Steve Knights son.”

He laughs again. “Phoenix would take offense for not being mentioned and my old lady is Lilly, mom is Jess.”

I nod. “Sister Elizabeth and grandfather Axe. I didn’t catch the Wall Thunderhawk connection but I know it’s there.”

Cort smiles. “You know more than most about the Knights.”

“Not you, so I’m behind. I have been reading and learning about you as well, Boss. Light is determined we know our new family. Luckily, a full genealogy of every member isn’t necessary. He said we’d just do the POTs and those referenced in the Bible.”

Ben reminds me of an Indian from TV but I don’t know the guy’s name. “Light your dog VP?” He looks at Shadow who is not happy with the dog reference.

“They’re my partners and yeah. Light is the VP here only because Cort wanted me as Pres. Light would do a better job. Shadow is my other partner. We have more now, but they’re the original ones chipped to me.”

Shadow hits me with his paw so I put my fist out. He throws a picture of the boys at me and I nod. “He’s on the boys. He asked about the gold, Boss. He said someone dropped it back off with Light?” I watch Shadow run. He’s happy to leave.

Cort nods. “They’re working every day. They don’t need to pay for retirement. Raid said Shadow’s worried about bones and food when he retires.”

I roll my eyes and see Ben is amused by my partners. “They get my insurance and whatever they left me for their trust. I already put money and the land up for them.”
