The music starts back up, and we get rowdy!
Not Dead Yet!
Rogue
The first smart…probably the only smart thing about the women picking this dive bar was the fact that it’s in neutral territory.
Why in the world would they think this place was a good choice?
If I didn’t have a tracker on my bike, I’d be hesitant to even park here. Though most people would be nervous about touching our bikes. That doesn’t stop them from staring and drooling.
The inside is even worse than the outside. My boots stick to the floor occasionally as we walk over to a table in the corner with a clear view of the entire bar.
Carver pulled the short straw and has to watch the bathrooms. Drunk women seem to use them nonstop.
Havoc pulls out his phone after the waitress sets our beers down.
I’m not a snob. A cold beer is a cold beer. But I’ve gotten spoiled by frozen mugs.
“We should have asked for 200k. These women are going to give me grey hairs.”
“Hate to tell you this, but you already have them.” Tormenting Havoc about going prematurely grey would have been more fun if it didn’t attract the ladies.
He completely ignores my barb. “They are trying to get us killed. Fly caught Mindy as she tripped dancing on the bar, almost crashing into a wall full of bottles. Maddox would have killed us.”
“Maddox the Monk.” Vandal laughs. “No way.”
Sometimes Vandal is an idiot. “You think Maddox would be any kinder than Vex if his woman got hurt? Any man who waited all those years to find the perfect woman would lay to waste anything that hurt her.” Of that, I have no doubt.
“Half of them were trashed and still dancing on the bar. Vex might have been a little dramatic when it comes to Dahlia. So far in every update, she’s been avoiding trouble. They’re on their way here now with an ETA of less than five minutes. Shouldn’t there be fewer people in here?” Havoc’s hand goes to the knife in his pocket.
Guns would have been a bit too conspicuous. But there was no way we weren’t coming armed with the threat of Vex hanging over us. “It’s two hours till last call on a Saturday night. We’d have to light a fire to get all of them out of here. A bar fight would only get them more riled up.”
“Don’t even joke about a bar fight. We might need more brothers to show up to keep the peace. These women are going to stir up trouble.”
More than a dozen women who imbibed too much and are wearing sexy dresses…what could happen in a dive bar. We probably need an army. “Call ’em all.”
“Even the ones that have already done their location? Maddox wanted this kept on the down low.”
Havoc is right to be worried. But worried is better than dead. “It’s your choice.” He’s the president. “But they can wait outside and only come in if things go sideways.” My gut says this is going to go sideways quickly.
“If I call in more of our men, I should notify Vex and Maddox.” Havoc glances around the room as the front door opens, and the room stops moving. “You call our guys. I’ll call Maddox.”
It goes unsaid that I prefer the call I have to make to the one he’s about to enjoy. While watching the sparkling parade of women walk to a reserved table, which is made up of four tables pushed together in the corner, I dial Bishop, a lieutenant who’s on duty at the compound. It is quite the sight. Our two main charges are in the middle of the pack. And they act like a pack huddled together giggling and shimmering. Who knew I liked glitter this much?
As does every red-blooded male in this building. And all the men around here have stopped drinking their woes away to start drooling over these women.
The odds aren’t in our favor right now. Not that we would lose. Havoc and I have been in fights alone with worse odds, but we can’t be in ten places at once. They need to stay at that table and giggle or whatever drunk women do when they’re out being wild and crazy for at least the next twenty minutes.
Two women trail behind the group, holding each other up. My eyes should be scanning the room. But they’re stuck on her. She definitely doesn’t give off vegan barista vibes. Nor is she beautiful in the traditional sense. But her face is interesting. Mesmerizing even.
“That’s the prettiest death I’ve ever seen.” Havoc sits back down. “They’re on their way. It seems one of the women ratted them out, and Maddox and Vex were already on their way.”
“So all we need to do is hope they don’t get us killed before then.”
Why does that feel like an impossible dream?
Giggles erupt from their table.
