“Okay. Thanks, and take care.”

“You do the same, Sherelle.”

After ending the call, he wondered how things were going with Kelly. There was nothing wrong with checking in to make sure things were going smoothly. He drew in a deep breath, knowing he was only fooling himself. More than anything, he just wanted to hear her voice.

Kelly pushed away from her desk, rubbing her eyes. She’d been reading nonstop practically all morning, even skipping lunch and breaks. It was time to give her eyes a rest. Standing, she walked over to the window and looked out. Downtown Boston was beautiful this time of year. She’d been to Boston before, a few years ago, when she and her college roommate had flownhere for a Beyoncé concert. They hadn’t had much time to enjoy the city then, and she hoped she’d have the opportunity to see more of it this trip.

She turned when she heard the intercom beep on her desk. Quickly crossing the room, she pressed the button. “Yes, Alvie?”

“I have Mr. Masters on the line.”

“Please put him through.”

After hearing the click, she said, “Yes, Colton?”

“How are things going, Kelly?”

The sound of his voice, deep and throaty, sent a spike of heat through her. This was the first time they’d talked on a phone, and she had to admit, he sounded too sexy for words. Swallowing deeply, she answered, “Things are going well. I’ve managed to get a lot of reading done, and made plenty of notes. Tomorrow, I will start making calls.”

“Good. I’ll go over everything with you at our dinner meeting tomorrow,” he said.

“Sounds good.”

“By the way, one of the junior executives at the Orlando office, Sherelle Telfair, is available to assist if you need help with anything.”

“I appreciate the offer, but my office staff will take care of anything I need.”

“Great. I’m just about to make reservations for dinner tomorrow. Are you allergic to anything?”

“No.”

“Any kind of food in particular you like?”

“I like it all.”

“Sounds like you aren’t hard to please.”

“I’m not,” she said, fighting hard to keep her voice normal. They were still talking about food, right?

“I’ll pick you up at six then.”

“There’s no need for you to go out of your way, Colton. Just tell me which restaurant we’re going to and I can meet you there,” she said. Thank goodness she’d thought of a way out of that. She’d never ridden in the same car with him, and she could just imagine how intimate that would be. A jolt of sensual energy rocked her at the thought of them confined in such close space.

“It won’t be out of my way. I live six floors above you.”

Kelly blinked in surprise. “You live at the St. Laurent?”

“Yes. In one of the penthouses on the executive floor.”

She’d hadn’t known that. “Okay, I’ll be ready at six.”

CHAPTER 5

Colton stepped off the elevator onto the fifteenth floor of the east wing in the St. Laurent Hotel. Those butterflies were back to swirling around in his stomach again. Although he continually told himself that this was only a business dinner, anticipation at seeing Kelly again had heat curling inside of him.

He had gotten her hotel room number from Alvie earlier that day, and now here he was, walking down the luxurious hallway to her door. Before knocking, he drew in a deep breath, pushing away the memory of the last time he had visited her hotel room. The big difference this time was that he wouldn’t enter.
