"You okay?" Rook murmurs against my hair, his voice still rough with desire but gentler now, concerned.

I nod, unable to find words for the tangle of sensations and emotions coursing through me. The heat, the satisfaction, the lingering need already starting to build again beneath the surface. The bond between us thrums like a living thing, new but unbreakable.

A soft whimper from across the nest draws my attention. Fox and Alex, tangled together much like we are. I watch through heavy-lidded eyes as Alex's teeth graze Fox's neck, asking permission without words.

"Please," Fox gasps, tilting his head to expose his throat, his submission freely given.

Alex growls—a sound so different from his usual controlled demeanor, primal need evident behind it. His teeth break Fox's skin, his honey-chamomile scent spiking sweet and sharp with pleasure and relief.

"Beautiful," Rook whispers in my ear, following my gaze. "They were always meant to be."

I watch as Alex cradles Fox against him, their bodies locked together by his knot, their scents mingling into something new. Fox's face is transformed by wonder, all trace of the haunted look he usually carries erased in this moment of perfect connection.

"Like us?" I ask, already knowing the answer but needing to hear it, anyway.

Rook's lips brush my temple. "Like us."

I feel his knot begin to subside, our bodies gradually separating, though he keeps me wrapped tightly in his arms. The loss of connection sends a fresh wave of emptiness through me, my heat flaring at the sudden absence. My skin burns, every nerve ending raw and sensitized. I need?—

"Alpha," I whimper, squirming against him, seeking pressure, friction, anything to ease the building ache.

"I've got you," Rook soothes, stroking my back, my sides, gentling me through the resurgence. "But I need a minute."

A deeper voice cuts through the haze of my renewed need. "I can help." Reed stands at the edge of the nest, his stormy blue eyes dark with hunger, his ocean scent washing over me in intoxicating waves.

Rook's arms tighten around me for a moment, instinctive possessiveness warring with practicality. Then he relaxes, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "He'll take care of you while I recover."

Reed approaches the nest cautiously, waiting for explicit permission despite the obvious desire radiating from him. Always so careful, so controlled, even now.

"Come here, Grumpy," I manage to tease, holding out a hand to him. "Unless you're scared."

A growl rumbles from his chest, but his lips twitch with the hint of a smile. "Bratty even in heat. Why am I not surprised?"

Rook chuckles, shifting to make room but keeping one hand on my hip, maintaining contact as Reed joins us in the nest.

The door opens, and Frankie slips inside, carrying a tray with water bottles and what looks like energy bars.

"She needs to hydrate," Frankie says, his voice steady despite the charged atmosphere in the room. He approaches the nest with careful steps, his eyes meeting mine with concern rather than desire.

Reed bristles slightly, a low warning growl escaping him. "We're handling it."

I roll my eyes, reaching for the water bottle Frankie offers. "Down, boy. He's just trying to help."

Frankie's lips curve in a small smile as Reed's growl deepens. He sets the tray at the edge of the nest, close enough for me to reach but maintaining a respectful distance.

"Thanks," I tell him, genuinely grateful for his thoughtfulness as I drain half the bottle in desperate gulps. I hadn't realized how thirsty I was until the cool water touched my lips.

"You need anything else?" Frankie asks, his concern evident despite his attempt at professional detachment.

"Just your winning personality," I quip, enjoying the way Reed's scent spikes with annoyance. Teasing him is quickly becoming one of my favorite activities.

"Out," Reed growls at Frankie, his patience visibly fraying.

Frankie backs away, but not without giving me a quick wink that Reed doesn't catch. On his way out, he quietly sets a fresh water bottle within easy reach of Fox, a simple gesture of care that makes my chest ache.

"I'll check in later," he promises.

As the door closes behind him, Reed turns his full attention to me, those stormy eyes tracking every movement as I finish the water and reach for one of the energy bars.
