“Now,are you sure you remember the steps?” Mom asked me for the tenth time today. I nodded and rolled my eyes at her. “I saw that Huxley, I just want to make sure you dance with that beautiful date of yours. Don’t just leave her standing there.”
I smiled and kissed mom’s forehead.
“Mom, I won’t leave her standing there. I promise.” I couldn’t believe I was going to pick her up soon, this day felt like it had taken forever to get here and now it was I felt a little sick with nerves. River and Mason didn’t have a date, but they were coming with me. Our parents all said they would get the limo if we all went. So, they didn’t want to miss out to “arrive in style.” As River had put it.
Dad G came barreling into the house… naked. “Grady, put some clothes on, our boy is going soon.”
He laughed, “you love to see me naked, Blair. I was just on my run when I heard the limo coming so I wanted to come and say goodbye and good luck to Hux.” He wrapped me in a big hug, my suit getting crumpled and as much I was used to nudity around my house, I didn’t want my dad hugging me naked.
“Thanks dad,” I patted his backs.
“Dad’s,” I heard from behind me, I turned to see dad standing there. He was clothed and his blond mop of hair was on his head in a messy man bun. His grin wide as he held is arms out to me.
I wrapped my arms around him, and he patted my back. “Now, the limo has a time limit, but you don’t. You boys can come back here, we will make ourselves scarce so you can have a good time. Your adults… by law, but your still my baby boy. So, you don’t have a curfew, not that you have ever had one and Ada is also welcome back here, if she needs someone to drive her home or she can stay over… But if you were to do things, I want you to use protection. I put some condoms in the bathroom—” I pulled away.
“Dad, oh god. I’m not… you don’t need to worry about that.” I shook my head at him. That wasn’t happening tonight, as much as I knew these things could happened on prom. Not for me and Ada. I hadn’t even kissed her again, so I was only hoping for that tonight. If she wanted to come back here later, I would be excited, but only so I could spend more time with her.
“Good, that’s good. It’s good to take your time.” He replied as he grinned again. I could hear River outside, he was talking very fast and very excitedly. The Limo was out front and I might need to rescue the Mason before he murdered him.
Mom kissed me, then both my dads did too.
“Love you, Hux. Say hi to Ada for us.”
The limo wasslick and black. “Dude, come and see this.” River called to me. Mason was standing to the side of the door as River basically dived in the Limo. Mason’s hands in his pants pockets, and I could see the tick of his jaw. He was gonna chew River out if I didn’t calm him for a little. They had spent the whole afternoon getting ready, so I think it was too much for Mason.
“You look good man,” I grabbed Mason’s shoulder and he nodded. “Don’t worry, I will help you with River tonight.” Mason mouthed “thank you” to me, but River heard me… of course.
“I don’t need help, I need you two, to hurry up. Let’s go get Ada and get to Prom… oh my god come and see this, they have a little fridge in here.”
We arrivedat Ada’s house, and I couldn’t get River to sit in the damn limo and wait.
“I wanna see her, that’s all.” Was his excuse. Like he wouldn’t see her when she got in. I just didn’t want an audience when I met her parents for the first official time… I had met them at the wedding but only briefly.
I walked to the door and knocked, my heart pounding in my chest. She had texted me earlier telling me she was almost ready… shit I should have told her I was coming now. Maybe almost ready wasn’t ready for another hour. I didn’t want to rush her.
“Hello, Huxley, how are you?” Her dad was a little shorter than me with gray hair. He wore some glasses this time, he held his hand out to me. I took it and shook it.
“I’m great, how are you?” He let go of my hand and gestured for me to come inside. I turned back and saw River with two thumbs and Mason was now standing beside him holding onto his suit jacket. I didn’t think this part through, I should have picked Ada up first, they were making me nervous more than her dad was.
“Hello, I’m Michelle, in case you didn’t remember. You look very nice, Huxley. Ada will be out in a moment; she wouldn’t let me see her dress until you got here. I’m very excited.”
Ada looked a lot like her mom, Destiny too. Her excitement was rolling off her and my wolf loved it. She picked up a camera that was on the coffee table and called out to Ada. Oh, I forgot about photos. I nervously tucked my hair behind my ear. I wasn’t a fan of them. I put my hand in my pocket and wrapped my fingers around the simple black mask there. It was a masquerade ball after all.
“Here she comes,” Her mom bounced around on the tip of her toes. I could hear Ada coming down the hall toward sus. She had sucked in a deep breath, I could already sense her nerves and my wolf wanted to comfort her. I closed my eyes until I heard her stop and Michelle made a gasping sound. I looked up at Ada, she held her hands together in front of her, biting her lower lip she looked at me and my mouth dropped at the sight of her.
“Ada… you look amazing, more than amazing. Wow, just...” I was lost for words. Her hair was down and curled, she wore a red lace mask, but her dress. Elegant and long, a deep red silk that clung to all her curves and the way it hugged her body like it was made for her, had my cock twitching. She was sexy and so gorgeous. I couldn’t say that in front of her parents.
“Thanks, Hux. You look amazing too.” We stood there, just gazing at each other. I was the luckiest guy on earth right now. I felt a little bad for Noah, even though Ada had cooled things off with him a week ago, we still chatted everyday.
He hadn’t asked for me to help him, or to fix what happened between them. Which I was grateful for, because I didn’t even know what I was doing myself. But he asked me every day if she was okay, and if she was happy. He was a good guy, just one that needs to read others body language a little better but I had a feeling he wasn’t totally out of the picture so I told him to just give her space and time.
“Let’s get some photos, then you can leave for your special night.”
I moved towards Ada and stood beside her, putting my arm around her waist and placed it on the small of her back. I realized then that it was a backless dress. Her silky smooth skin was warm and I couldn’t help but rub my thumb against it. I felt her shiver a little from my touch and move closer to me, she looked up and smiled.
“You are gorgeous, Ada.” I whispered, I wanted to kiss her then and there.
