I let out a small gasp. What does that mean, wasn’t healing? They all heal… Noah said they heal fast.

“There testing us now, pressing on our defences. Everyone else is out fighting, bring him to us. We will try to help him. Who is it?” one of the women said.

Everyone was out fighting and I couldn't hear a thing in this house. It clearly a whole other world out there.

I’d thought everything was okay, because they’d never said anyone was fighting. I was the only one here apart from Lexi who didn't have supersonic hearing. I’d thought everything was okay, and we were even eating and drinking, but it wasn't.

“Pack Rawlins,” Maverick replied as he lowered his head, his hand moved in a way that told me he was looking at himself for the first time and realized how much blood he had on him. But Lexi didn’t wait beside me, she ran at him. Her arms wrapping around him and he held her tight. I felt a lump in my throat at the sight. He could have died, where were the rest? I felt a tear slip down my cheek.

“Get blankets and towels. Bottles of water, warm water, and bandages,” someone called out. And I snapped to attention, wiping the lone tear.

I was here, I was able bodied and I was going to help in any way I could. I ran to get the blankets, I knew where I’d placed some earlier. I passed one to someone and they cleared the dining table and placed it down. I ran and got more towels, I didn’t know what was needed but I would rather have too much, than not enough.

Saint was there, he was carrying a limp gray wolf in his arms. My hand flew to my mouth, he looked bad. “Quick bring him here,” was called out, a lady gesturing to the dining table. Saint was naked and covered in blood and rain, just like Maverick was.

I watched as he placed the injured Wolf down gently, he took a step back and watched as the women moved in.

“Hux, oh god, baby.” A woman sobbed. My arms started to shake and my knees felt weak. This was Huxley Moore? I… I needed to keep moving so I didn't freak out, it was almost like I needed to step outside myself and do the job that was needed. I ran over to Saint and held the towel up for him, he took it and I handed him a bottle of water.

Lexi stood beside me, Maverick was now cleaner with a towel wrapped around his waist. I looked over to the dining table, the women were in a panic. “How come he isn't healing?” one shrieked.

“I don't understand?” It was my sister’s best friend, Kiara. She was looking around the room questioning what was happening with Huxley. He had blood, twigs and mud all over his fur, I wouldn't even know where to start finding an injury. Didn't they heal fast? I didn't understand why Huxley was just lying there. Unmoving. Was something wrong with his wolf that was preventing him from healing himself?

“Hux, baby. Wake up. God, please wake up,” I realised then that was his mother. Her beautiful red hair spilled over her shoulder. She was shaking as she was touching his fur and his face. Trying to open his eyes. I held my breath hoping he would just wake up.

Oh God please, please let Huxley live. This wasn't right this… they weren’t supposed to attack today. Alaric had got it all wrong, it was now. They were coming for Lexi.

Lexi moved over to his limp form that was sprawled over the dining table, she touched his head and gasped, Maverick was behind her holding on to her. What the hell? She looked as if she was in pain. Maverick was talking to her and asking her what was going on, the panic in his voice heightened the tension in the room.

She moved her hand over his side, the women closest to Huxley gasped loudly. They started screaming, calling out to get Galen. I watched on in horror. I didn't know what to do. What was it? what did she see?

Lexi went rigid as she held onto the wound that she had obviously found. It must have been really bad for them to need Galen. After a few moments Lexi collapsed. Maverick caught her, holy shit. I was closer now, drawn in to see what had happened. I could clearly see now what everyone was looking at… or what they weren’t seeing.

Lexi had healed him with her hands. She really was an Angel.

Saint

I knewit was bad when I found him, he wasn't healing. How come he wasn't healing, I didn't understand. When I picked him up, his body was so limp, his breathing barely there. Maverick ran ahead to let everyone know I was coming, we needed help and we needed it now.

When I laid him on the table, I realised only then that it was Huxley, from Pack Rawlins. I knew what had happened to his brother years ago. It was one of those stories you were told to remind you not to chase after trouble, not to pick fights and to never leave pack lands.

I watched as Lexi found the crescent shaped bite of a vampire on him. That was why he wasn't healing, he was dying and there was nothing we could do about it. I felt for his mother then. He was her only child left and she was losing him as well. I didn’t know Huxley, but I knew he didn’t deserve this.

But then something happened, Lexi had somehow healed him and I was in shock. As was everyone else. She’d just touched him and now, now his breathing was stronger. His mother begged for him to shift back and when he did my eyes flew to Ada. Taking in her expression.

Her hands were on her mouth and I could smell the fear and pain she felt at the sight of him. She never hid her emotions, she always wore them for all to see. She moved from beside me, grabbing another towel and running to him. She looked him over before placing the towel over his shivering body. She stood back. Was she… why was she watching him like that? My wolf started to get upset at the way she looked at him.

“Huxley, how do you feel?” His mother asked. She was stroking his hair. Huxley tried to speak but all he let out was a croak. Ada was there with a bottle of water. She was doing much better now with her emotions, not projecting her fear as intensely as she was only moments before. My wolf could tell she was a good caregiver.Mine.I ignored him.

Ada put another towel on Huxley, she started running around grabbing supplies, and some of the women took a step back. Looking between a newly conscious Lexi and a now healed Huxley.

“Better, I don't hurt anymore,” Huxley finally got out. His mom, her hair the color of fire moved around to Lexi and embraced her, thanking her over and over for saving her son.

Ada had a bowl of what looked to be warm water and a cloth and she started to clean him up. I didn't like what I could smell in Huxley's emotions. I’d never thought of him as a someone interested in her. My wolf was on edge, as Ada’s scent changed to one of happiness. But not just happy he was okay, this was deeper. This whole time I thought Noah was the only one I was competing against for her. Now I realised that wolves from other packs had noticed her too. And why wouldn't they, she was beautiful and she knew about the one big secret we held. Huxley Moore was now a challenge I needed to take care of.

I moved behind Ada watching her as she continued drying him with a towel. My wolf was done with this, mine. I grabbed the towel out of her hands and gave it to the closest woman. I held her shoulders and turned her to me. Her eyes widened in surprise.
