Mr Lovell asked Mr Donovani… or Galen as he had called him. My Donovani was pacing, he would stop occasionally and drag his fingers through his hair. Then he would pace some more. Actually the pacing was jarring. He was fast and at one point I swear he moved a million miles a second. Give Blood? What the hell? Shouldn’t the hospital do that?
He touched her arm, then went back to pacing. The room was loud, or maybe it was my thoughts that were loud, but I didn’t know what was happening. Where was the ambulance?
“Yes.” Galen— Mr Donovani said as he pulled up his sleeve. I watched as his mouth changed… fangs. I blinked twice, but no I wasn’t seeing things. He had actually just grown fangs as he bit into his wrist. I saw the red of his blood seeping out from between his teeth. I gasped.
I could sense Maverick’s eyes on me, burning holes into my face as I took in the man who I thought was the high school history teacher just turn into a vampire. I turned to Maverick to see if he was surprised. Nope… he knew. I felt like I was the last to know here. Was it strange I wasn’t scared? Maybe I was in shock.
“I knew he was too good-looking to be human.” It was true, I’d always felt like he was a little too perfect looking, and like there was something off about him. I’d actually told Destiny once that I thought he was an alien.
I watched as he fed his own blood to Lexi. I watched as her body calmed and was almost still. Was this going to heal her?
Everything was surreal, like I was dreaming. They called out to each other in panic, the pain in their voices causing my vison to blur and everything to speed up. Raff was crying, the steady stream of his tears down his face, all I could see. She was dying. My best friend was going to die in this room, with her boyfriends and me.
Oh, and Mr Donovani, the vampire history teacher from Port Willow high.

Lexi had woken up…but only after Galen had sucked her blood. He’d said he had to suck the poison out. But then he was sick and I wasn’t sure what was going on. There was a very intimate moment between them all and I felt a little out of place. Like I shouldn’t have been there.
She had looked fine, but then she passed out. Which freaked me out even more because Maverick had stood up and the next thing I knew, he was a huge gray wolf. His dad was yelling at him to shift back, but all Maverick did was snarl and snap his teeth at him.
You would think that would have freaked me out more than “vampire history teacher,” but it didn’t. Or maybe I’d always thought there was something off, a few situations that had never sat right with me. I had seen boys go into woods and then sometimes there were only wolves that emerged.
Galen was forever following them out into the woods. And there was that one time, I was looking out the library window and I swore Ranger came out of the woods naked. Then he went straight back and a wolf emerged in his place. I thought it was weird, but I didn’t have anyone to talk to and if I did…Well, they would have run a mile from me. I would have been considered crazy. I did think I was going crazy at one point.
Jett took me to Lexi’s room. They told me to sleep and wait there. Sleep? How could I sleep after that? I paced the room some, listening as the party stopped and everyone left. But I could hear the howls from the wolves… I wondered which others were out there as wolves.
Jett told me about them being shifters, I nodded and believed him. It made sense, well as a huge fan ofThe Twilight Sagait made sense. And it helped that I had seen it with my own eyes.
I think I got some sleep, then I had a shower and waited for Lexi. They said they would let me know if anything bad happened, but no one had come to update me, except Lyell. He told me she was sleeping and fine. That was more words than I had ever heard from him, maybe he was getting better at talking to me.
I was looking out the window, it was daylight now. My phone buzzed with a message from Destiny, asking if I met any cute boys last night. I smiled but I didn’t know what to say to her without accidently telling her the Kiba boys turn into wolves, so I put it back in my pocket.
The door opened and closed before I could turn and see who was here now.
“Oh my god!” It was Lexi, I choked up. I ran at her and wrapped her in a huge hug. “I was so scared! You almost died, and Galen saved you then…” She stroked my hair to calm me down. I was so worked up with what had happened, and I was so glad to see her. I sniffed back a tear and wrinkled my nose at the smell and I realized that she hadn’t showered after everything, and I was being overly clingy.
“You need a shower, so I’ll grab some clothes for you. Go jump in, and then we can chat…. And like I mean really chat. Because I saw Maverick turn into a big gray wolf while you were passed out and I have a million questions.” When she didn’t move at first, I nodded in encouragement, she smiled and I pushed her towards the bathroom. She turned to me and called me a bossy boots. I wanted to laugh, but I was determined to get her to talk faster, and this way she would be ready for all my questions.
I went into her closet; it didn’t have much. It was huge, but bare. I started to grab a few items and went to place them on the bed for her, when I heard a loud crash. Oh shit.
“Are you alright?” My heart started to race, she didn’t pass out, did she?
“Yeah, I just slipped.” Lexi called out but the door to the bedroom flew open and at the sudden appearance of Raff I let out a shriek. My hand flying to my chest. He scared me. The bathroom door flew open and he stood there. I could hear my heart beat in my ears, and I tried to ignore what was happening between them. He backed out and closed the door. He had given me an apologetic smile before he left the room.
Lexi floppeddown beside me on her white bed. Her dark hair was still a little damp. She didn’t say anything and I was worried she was freaked out still. I know I would be. So, I sat up and looked down at her, I crossed my eyes and gave my best goofy grin. She laughed.
“I feel much better now, thank you.” I smiled. I was glad, I let out a deep breath.
“So, let’s just get this out the way. Galen is a vampire,” she quirked her brow at me as she sat up. I knew he was one, I saw it with my own eyes. So, I just smiled.
“Yeah, and before you get all chatty, just know that they can hear everything we say. And I meaneverything.”
What? I sat back a little and all the things I had said when visiting, especially what I had said last night about Saint, came rushing back. My mouth dropped open, I was going to say something, but thought that I’d better not. So I put my hand on my mouth so I didn’t.
“Yeah, I didn’t learn that until a few days after I moved in. So, when you’re talking about one of the guys…” No way… oh shit. Last night, I said I wantedsomeof Saint. Did he hear me, was that why he talked to me? My eyes widened and she pulled my hands away from my face.
