I hate leaving him so soon, but I don't want to force him into my arms again. I want him to come running willingly. "Until next time." I press a kiss to the other side of his mouth and his breath hitches. I walk toward the club entrance, gesturing toward Germo. "He's ready for you now. Make sure he's properly taken care of."

He blinks his eyes in my direction, not saying anything while he walks back to where Marcus is. I inhale and exhale deeply, loving how crisp the air is when I walk outside. I glance around the parking lot, losing my high when I don't see my driver anywhere in sight. I turn around to head back in the club so I can call him without freezing my ass off and someone shoves a hood over my head, wrapping their arm around my neck. I struggle against the large body, fighting him until I pass out.

My eyes blink open to soft jazz playing in the background. "Good, you're awake."

I try to move, but zip ties hold my wrists in place behind my back. Marcus grins, leaning his back against the car window. We are both in the back seat with only a small space separating us. "I’ve known it was you the whole time, but didn't want to believe it. Then you had to go and ruin the fantasy by putting a tracking device under my car." He sighs, running his fingers through his hair. "If you were smart you'd leave tonight and never look back."

"I guess I'm an idiot then, because I'm not going anywhere."

He slams his fist in the seat. "Why are you here?"

"Because you put up smoke signals and here I am. So now you can stop throwing a temper tantrum and quit screwing with my business deals."

He squirms. "Fuck you. You don't know it's me. I'm not your only competitor out there. I'm definitely not your only enemy."

I huff out a laugh. "Enemy? Are you not happy to see me, Mi conejito?"

He grunts, looking away. "No. Things are better when you're nowhere in my sight."

"Then I better blindfold you again." I purse my lips together, pulling a small knife from my back pocket, shifting my body so he doesn't see me cutting myself free.

"I was wondering when you'd come for me. Never did I think it would be this way."

"Pretty sure I'm not the one who came tonight."

His nose flares. "You are much chattier than I remember. Maybe it's because the sound of your voice makes me cringe now."

"Someone must be mixing his words up. I think the word you’re looking for is hard."

"You're intolerable."

I laugh, pulling my wrists free and quickly slam my body against his, sliding my hand between his legs to squeeze his cock. He gasps in surprise and instead of widening in fear, they darken with desire. Fuck I want him. The hunger never stops. "I've missed that smart mouth of yours. What I don't miss is the miscommunication. You always did have a hard time telling me you were angry without blowing up the whole world first."

"I told you, it wasn't me," he says through clenched teeth. "Someone has been fucking with me too...stealing my drugs and killing my men."

"So you're telling me, you didn't mention anything to a few of my regulars about your stuff being fresher and better grown than mine. Or that you didn't burn down some of my fields and ruin my reputation by switching out my product?"

He sucks in a breath. "Okay, maybe that was me." He grins maliciously. "It sucks to have everything slowly taken from you, doesn't it?"

The car stops and a gun presses to my head. "Move to the other side of the car and stay there, asshole." Germo shoots daggers at me from the front seat. "I fucking mean it."

I lift my hands in the air, scooting back. Marcus tugs at his suit and sits up straighter. "I believe this is your stop."

I stare around, taking in the dark empty road surrounded by nothing but trees. "We are in the middle of nowhere."

"Yes and it's time for you to be on your way. When you call for someone to pick you up, tell them to have your plane ready to go tonight. I meant what I said before." He pushes a button besidehim, unlocking the car. I open the door and as I'm stepping outside, his next words have me freezing in place. "Oh and by the way, you might want to get your guard out of the trunk of your car. I parked it in front of the hotel you're staying at. Bye, Miguel."

It's been a long time since he'd said my name and I can't wait until I have him screaming it.

"Goodbye, Mi conejito."

I step out of the car, and it takes off before I can fully get the door shut. I grab my phone and call Able. "I need you to come get me. I'll message you my coordinates. Also, call Mateo. Tell him I'll be staying in Kansas City even longer now."

Chapter 8

Marcus

I sit back in my office chair and turn on my laptop, bringing up a screen revealing Miguel's empty hotel room. A part of me knew he was close by and last night had only confirmed my suspicions.
