“What makes you so sure?”
“I made sure it was untraceable.” My brother should already know how careful I am.
“What about the man you paid to tamper with the drugs? He will be questioned and they almost always break.”
“I took care of it.”
“How?”
“Let’s just say he won’t say a word.”
He knew that if he did, then his family would get nothing. He was a man who would do anything for his family, and was out for his own revenge. I’m not the only one who wants to ruin Miguel Jeventino.
“You better hope you’re right.”
“Relax hermano, I’m always right. Besides, this should increase sales for you. No one who bought this last batch from any of his dealers will ever trust them again. And those dealers will never trust the place it came from. They will be looking elsewhere soon enough.”
Angel sighs loudly into the phone. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
“I always do.”
It was usually true, but when it came to Mateo, there were times he made me feel I didn’t know my head from my ass. Maybe seeing him before work wasn’t the best idea. I got more satisfaction watching him come than I did coming with any of the people I’ve hooked up with over the last few years. It was a beautiful sight, but watching his father’s face at the end of all this will be glorious.

Mateo
The sun is blinding when I walk out of one of the clubs we own. We are losing profits on this location and my father thinks someone is stealing from him. Everything added up and nothing appears to be missing. People just weren't coming in the way they used to. The lines were no longer pouring out the doors the way they were before the Italians opened a club across the way. I have a feeling there was more going on than that. I head for my car and my pocket vibrates. I ignore it the first time and continue across the street. When it vibrates again, I grab it from my pocket and hold it up to my ear.
"Hola?"
"Mateo?"
"Yes?"
"Don't get in your car."
"What?"
"I said, don't get in your car."
"Why not? What's going on?"
My father's breathing is heavy. "Where are you?"
"At Paradise."
"Go back inside the club and wait for me."
"Why? What's going on?"
"Will you for once stop defying me and do what you're told?" My father's voice grows more irritated.
I sigh, wondering who my father and Santiago pissed off this time.
"What did you do this time?"
"It's not what I did. It's what some fucker did during the last shipment. Are you going inside?"
