Beside him, Jack put a calming hand on his shoulder. “We’ll get her.”

Ace was glad his friend had insisted on coming along. He could help him kick ass when they caught up to those guys.

Trevon had run out of the gate but was too late to stop the SUV as it peeled away from the curb. But then, he disappeared for a split second. As Ace was flying away, he saw something that baffled him.

Trevon reappeared and threw something at the vehicle.

Even though it was already far away, Trevon’s arm was like a damn cannon. Whatever he threw hit its mark. It splattered atop the SUV, painting it in bright blue.

Painting it literally, Ace realized.

“Trevon, you clever bastard!” he said with a laugh.

“What’s going on?” Jack pondered.

“That was paint. Probably the paint those Littles were using to color the banner on the walkway!”

“It didn’t stop those guys though,” Jack pointed out.

“He wasn’t trying to! He was tagging them. Now I can’t lose ‘em! There are thousands of silver SUVs in this city. But probably only one with blue paint drying on top of it!”

Jack threw his head back and laughed. “Damn, Trevon. Smart thinking!”

It proved to be a genius idea. Ace had no trouble following the SUV. He wondered if they even knew they were being tailed from the sky.

They more than likely thought someone was coming for them by car, the way they weaved in and out of traffic and made erratic, quick turns.

Had Ace been chasing them in the Guard’s van, keeping up might have proven difficult. But from high in the sky, with a paint splatter marking the correct target, Ace had zero issues tracking his prey.

The whole time, Jack was on his phone, feeding the rest of the Guard info.

“They’re going to Franklin Canyon Park!” Ace said.

Jack nodded and relayed the info to their brothers on the ground.

The car turned onto a dirt road and went up into the mountains. Ace’s stomach turned sour as he realized they were probably taking Lana to a remote spot where they could kill her and dump her body in a deserted ravine or something. Out there, it might take until she was discovered by hikers.

The thought made his blood run cold.

If they’d already hurt her, so help him, he’d massacre every last one of them.

With clenched teeth, he told himself to calm down. Stay loose. Losing his cool wouldn’t help anyone.

Now was the time to stay collected.

His babygirl’s life depended on it.

Chapter Thirty-Four

“Get out!” the man yelled.

Lana was sniffling, though she hated showing her three captors that she was afraid.

The one who’d been in the backseat with her exited first and then reached in, grabbing a hunk of her hair, and jerking her out roughly. “I said get out!”

She groaned as she lost her footing and slid down to the gravel-strewn ground.

“Come on,” one of the others said as he climbed out of the front passenger seat. “Two in the head then kick her into the canyon.”
