Sing…? What…? I didn’t…
But then, a thready cry rasped from my throat, the drive of fingers shoving me over the edge into my release. It pulsed through me in wave after wave. I felt Caleb moving then, his shaft pressed against me, the wide head nestling into my folds, notching against my opening. I gasped as he inched into my slick passage.
It was tight, almost painful but not, as his girth spread me wider than I could ever remember. My hips canted up toward him, then he thrust deep, and I bit back a sharp cry of surprise.
“Yes!”
“Fuck,” he muttered, his voice deeper than I’d ever heard it. “So damn good. Fuck, Melody.”
He brushed my hair from my face, his forehead tilting to mine, holding my gaze as he started to move, his eyes dark with lust and devotion for me. I moved with him as we somehow found a perfect rhythm together. There was nothing awkward or clumsyabout this first time together while we learned each other. It was just…right. And I knew I’d remember it for the rest of my life.
Our bodies rocked in unison as we touched and kissed and shared the experience. It was magic, being in his arms, having him inside me, feeling his powerful body over me. If I hadn’t already known I loved him, I would known for sure after that moment.
Tension began to build in my muscles as he increased the pace of his thrusts, my body ached for the new release I hurtled toward. I trembled under him, and his rhythm faltered. His hips rocketed against my thighs, his cock pushing deeper and deeper inside my spasming walls.
We cried out together when my orgasm seemed to blow the world apart around me, my nails digging into his biceps. I shuddered with waves of pleasure rolling over and through me while his cock jerked inside of me, filling me with his release.
We stayed like that, locked together for long minutes before Caleb rolled to the mattress beside me. He pulled me into his arms, and I lay my head on his chest, right over his rapidly beating heart. Mine raced just as fast as we each struggled with catching our breaths.
“I love you,” he whispered again, pressing a soft kiss to the top of my head.
“I love you, too.” I ran my fingers over his abs and sighed. “I think I can say, without a doubt, that this was the best Christmas I’ve ever had.”
“Well, I’ll have to see what I can do about making next Christmas even better.”
I smiled and snuggled closer against him. I wasn’t sure how he’d top this, but I couldn’t wait to have him try.
Epilogue One
Melody
December, One Year Later
“Do you think I should knit Clarence a scarf?” I asked Caleb while we waited in line atHard Candy Kissesto buy special candy-cane ribbon sweets that were a holiday staple in Majestic Falls. Though…there were whispers going around that it might not happen this holiday. Doris, the sweet lady who’d owned the place and made all the treats for years had passed away, and her granddaughter, Jessica, had just gotten to town to take over the shop.
Of course, since I’d been here just under a year, I wouldn’t know if the new candies were the same as the old ones everyone seemed to be utterly nostalgic over.
“I can’t believe you named him Clarence,” Caleb grumbled. “Or that you leave out treats for him so he’ll hang out in the yard near your office window. You know the other day he came right up to the kitchen window and stared at me.”
“I don’t leave them near the house. I leave them at the property line.”
“You know that could attract bears, city girl,” he chided.
“So, is that a yes on the scarf?” I asked, ignoring the statement about bears. They were hibernating right now, andafter Bobbi told me how many black bears there were in the region—something my husband of almost a year should have told me about—I’d stopped putting out any food. Clarence was just friendly.
“No. No scarf.”
“Fine,” I sighed, though I really hadn’t planned to knit him a scarf anyway.
My lips quirking, I watched the dark-haired woman behind the counter, who must be Jessica. She hurried back and forth to fill orders. Seeing it was exhausting, and I winced as she skidded into Micha Parsons, one of Caleb’s friends, who was coming from the back with a tray of candies. Somehow, he managed to move the tray out of the way and catch her at the same time.
“Would you look at that?” I breathed as the pair stared up into each other’s eyes. You could practically see hearts and flowers circling around them. “Majestic Falls magic strikes again.”
Caleb swore it was a thing, and I had to believe in it after my parents visited here last January. It still shocked me, but somehow, they’d rediscovered their love for each other. There had to be magic of some sort for that miracle to happen. Right now, my mom and dad were even at a couple’s retreat—the third in a year. Hey! Whatever it took for them to be happy, I was all for it.
“Or not,” Caleb muttered, drawing my attention back to the action at the counter. Jessica narrowed her eyes at Micha then pushed away from him and returned to filling orders.
Still, Micha stared at her for a moment before delivering the tray to the case. I had a feeling my husband was wrong. There was something between that pair. We only had to wait and see.
