“Among other things,” I say, looking at Cam.
Isaac’s eyes slit in confusion. And Cam puts him out of his misery.
“I’m trans, so…”
Isaac nods in understanding.
“That’s cool, man. Don’t listen to me. I just like teasing this big guy. Everyone is accepted in casa de Rivera,” he says, spreading his hands out to his sides like his house is the fucking Taj Mahal.
But his words are all that matter. And he’s right. Isaac has never had a problem with anyone. I don’t know why I was so worried telling him about me in the first place.
I was an idiot to doubt my best friend.
An idiot in love.
Because I’m pretty sure that’s what I am.
I look at Cam and the warmth in his eyes, the joyous smile on his lips and…

CHAPTER12
Camden
“How are you feeling, babe?”Linc asks me in the bathroom.
It’s the only quiet I can find in my apartment right now, and he’s here, so I can only feel the love. Even if everything else inside me is screaming.
“I’m okay,” I lie.
“Hey,” he says and lifts my face by the chin. “No need to lie to me.”
“I hate that you already know me so well.”
He shrugs and smirks.
“I don’t.”
I sigh and my shoulders sag. I look in the mirror, my blonde hair, the bags under my brown eyes, the stubble that’s reluctantly coming out in patches.
Will she be here to see the man I become. The man I continue to become. She’s been there every step of the way. How can I take any more steps without her?
Linc’s hands press on the small of my back, and the warmth of his body soothes a part of me. I look up at him.
He’s here. At least I have him now.
“I’m sad. And I don’t know if I can keep it together,” I admit.
“You don’t have to.”
I press my lips and lift my eyebrows.
“You don’t. It’s your twenty-first birthday, and your sister is moving away. You’re allowed to be emotional, my little Cancerian,” he says.
Well, when he puts it that way…
“Fine. Let’s get this show on the road,” I say and attempt to open the bathroom door when Linc pulls me back into his arms.
