“It’s a deal,” he says when he pulls away.

“Then it’s a deal for me, too.”

He watches me for a few moments, but he seems frozen in time as if he’s lost in his own thoughts.

“What?” I ask him, trying to wake him.

“Is… is it too soon to ask you?”

“Ask me what?”

I’m fully aware I’m holding his ex-fiancée’s ring in my hands, but of course he’s not talking about engagement. Right? Because yeah, yeah it is too soon.

And even if it wasn’t, does he really think I’d wear that cow’s ring?

“To be my boyfriend?” he asks.

The relief whooshes out of me before I can control it.

I really thought I had misjudged him there for a second and that he was as deranged as his ex.

But he isn’t. He’s sweet and romantic and…

“I can live with that,” I tell him.

And my boyfriend.

There it is. That goofy grin.

“Do-do you smell something burning?” I ask.

The goofy grin disappears, as does he into the kitchen.

Crap. He burned my breakfast. So I guess that means I’m not marrying him just yet. Not until he makes up for it.

Boyfriend.

I haven’t had one before, so even the word is unfamiliar on my lips.

But…

I like that he’s my first.

Boyfriend.

Yeah. I can so live with that.

CHAPTER11

Linc

“Are you sure about this?”I ask him.

He brings his hand up to my face and rewards me with that beautiful smile of his that lets me know he’s okay. That heissure about this. Even if I’m not.

“Come on. How bad can it be?” he says with all the innocence of someone who’s never met Isaac.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” I tell him.
