“Only in the best of ways, my boba,” I told him and saw the smile return to his lips.
“I love it when you call me that. Please don’t ever stop,” he said.
I wrapped my hand around his thigh and leaned closer. He pulled the parking brake and turned to me.
“I will never stop calling you my boba boy, and I will never stop loving you. I promise,” I whispered.
He put a hand on my face and stroked my temple with his thumb, staring into my eyes, inhaling me, and I did the same.
“I see your promise, and I raise you bubble tea for life until your teeth fall out…and I’ll also never stop loving you,” he said.
A warmth shuddered through me as he kissed me and held me with both hands. A warmth that settled right over my heart along with all the other fuzzy feelings there, and I couldn’t help but smile.
My sweet, beautiful boba boy that seemed to make everything pink and perfect, like my old black heart.
“Come on. Let’s go before I eatyou,” he said and pulled away.
“That wouldn’t be such a bad idea, would it?”
“You naughty bastard. You know we can’t do the deed while you’re recuperating.”
“Hey, that’s just cruel. It’s just a stupid wound that’s already healing, for fuck’s sake. It’s not like I’m made of glass,” I groaned, chasing after him as we walked into the Outpost brimming with life.
“Wow,” Hwan said.
“Are people going this bananas for a fucking burger?” I huffed.
Not that I wasn’t happy for Wyatt, but the idea that he was relying on Joey Fowler for this, who could snap at any moment and get himself into trouble irritated me. People like Joey Fowler didn’t deserve kindness or second chances.
“Have you met people before? Food and sex is the only thing that drives some of us,” he replied.
“Do you promise?” I pulled him into me and whispered.
“You’re insatiable, Mr. Dorothy,” he answered and then scanned the room shyly. “Are you sure you’re okay with this?”
I looked away from him and saw people staring at us. Most of them were older men, some of them were older women, and a fair few were people our age.
“Okay with what?” I asked, turning back to him. “A bunch of people I don’t know or care about knowing I’m gay?”
He nodded.
“Of course I’m okay. I don’t care about them. I found the person I want to be with for the rest of my life. They can stare all they want. It won’t change my mind,” I told him.
He pursed his lips into a smile and held my gaze for a few moments, then he nodded and dragged me to the bar.
“Well, if it isn’t the couple of the year,” Maddox sang as we approached. “I don’t think Ash will appreciate you stealing the title from us, by the way.”
Ash came to the bar with an empty tray and gave us a dirty look that made us both laugh.
“What the hell are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be having some crazy hot sex right now?” Ash asked.
“Ew, can we stop with the sex jokes around me, people? He’s my brother,” Autumn grimaced on the other side of the bar.
“So? No one asked you to sleep with him. We asked Hwan to sleep with him.”
“Shut up, Ford,” I snapped at Ash, and he just laughed and walked away with a tray of drinks.
“What can I get for you, boys?” Maddox asked.
