Before I could react, she reached a hand to my forehead and her brows sunk.
“What happened?” she asked.
I put my fingers on the spot on my head, and when I removed them, there was dark red on them.
“Crow-boy!” I spat and sighed.
“Huh?”
I shook my head and took a sip of my coffee.
“Nothing. Some crows bit me,” I replied when I put it down.
“Don’t tell me, they dared bite back when you were raining on their parade?”
I glowered, and she laughed. She washed her hand and moved to the side of the bar.
“I’ll get the first aid kit,” she said.
“I’m fine!”
“And I’m a saint, but oh well, what can you do,” she muttered.
When she returned to the room, she goofed around cleaning me up and putting a fucking Band-Aid on my forehead.
“You know I’ve dealt with worse, right? I don’t need a Band-Aid,” I told her.
“Oh my. Look at you, the big bad SEAL. Is my looking after you offending your manhood? I don’t need any of that attitude. So shut up and let me do my job.”
“You’re a barmaid,” I said.
“I’m your sister!” she snapped, hitting me on the arm.
“I’d do what she says,” Wyatt said as he came up from the cellar. “She’s as stubborn as you.”
Autumn aimed a pout in his direction, and he walked behind the bar to pour a mug of coffee for himself.
“Although her stubbornness is much more tolerable than yours,” he added, and Autumn turned back to me with a pleased smirk.
“I’m not sure I like this friendship,” I said, waving a hand between the two.
“And I don’t like that my brother didn’t invite me to his wedding, but you don’t see me making a big deal out of it,” Autumn growled and pressed hard on the scratch in my head.
I winced away from her touch, and she laughed.
“Yeah, so much for the big tough guy who’s been through worse,” she said.
“See, you say you’re not making a big deal, but you’re still angry about it. How long are you going to stay mad at me?”
She closed the first aid kit and stared at the red cross on the case for a few moments before she answered.
“I haven’t decided yet.”
And she walked off to put it back in its place.
I shook my head and sighed. My sister was hard work sometimes.
I turned to Commander Goodman, who was hiding a smile behind his mug.
