“Why do you think we're hiding something? Because we were out in London? Isn't that what people do when they visit a place like London? Jeez!” I said. “I’m going to bed.”

I pushed my glass away and headed for the stairs.

“Me, too. I don't need to take this kind of abuse from my own son,” Dad added and followed behind me, whiskey bottle and glass in hand.

“Good night,” Dawson said behind us.

“I will find out what you've been up to Mr. Karagiannis! Both of you,” Leo said on top of his voice.

I lifted my hand and aimed a middle finger behind me and climbed the stairs to my room.

I lay in bed trying to lull myself to sleep, but I couldn’t. Leo’s persistence had pissed me off, and August’s words when we parted kept ringing in my head.

I hated having to keep him a secret. I hated that I couldn’t tell Leo what I was up to. I hated that August had to have doubles to enjoy himself out in public. Or that he had to hire out entire places so he didn’t have prying eyes around, although… there were certain benefits to that, I supposed.

“Good night, my prince.”

He really had called me his prince.

I had to wake up from this dream. This was starting to feel a lot like a fairy tale, and I knew—I knew very well—it wasn’t.

“My prince.”

My head knew that, but my heart…

My heart was a different matter entirely. And I most certainly couldn’t follow Zoltar’s advice. Because doing so would only get me hurt and heartbroken.

Because I wasn’t a prince. And August was. And princes didn’t marry men.

“You’ve got to stop doing this,” Luke said beside me. “I’m starting to dislike surprises.”

“Why is that?” I grinned.

“Because for the past week you keep taking me out, and I never have a clue where we’re going,” he replied, pointing a finger at me. “We still haven't had that movie night, you know.”

“All right,” I said, swallowing the laugh that wanted to erupt out of me. “I promise after this surprise we’ll sit at home and relax all you want.”

In fact, we wouldn’t even have to wait for this surprise to be over to do just that. But I wasn’t going to tell him that. It would certainly ruin the surprise.

“Relax? What are you talking about? I don’t want to relax. I want to ravish you,” Luke said and bit his lip when he realized Nikolas had heard that. “Sorry.”

“That's okay.” I laughed.

“I wasn't apologizing to you. I was apologizing to Nikolas.”

My driver’s body boomed with amusement, and he glanced at Luke through the rearview mirror.

“Don't worry, sir. I’m old. I’ve heard worse,” he replied, and I gave him a side-eye that he conveniently ignored.

“Oh really? Now just how many boys have you done this with, Your Highness?” Luke asked, leering at me.

“You’re the first,” I reassured him.

Luke turned to Nikolas, who smiled at him with his kind eyes.
