I shook my head and brought his hand to my lips like he had done with me earlier.
“Of course it doesn't offend me. Why would that offend me? I appreciate that she gave you a great nurturing environment. And I can see that you love her very much, andsheloves you.
“I do. And I'm so glad that you found her. I never knew that she had a child. I wish I did. I would have looked for you sooner. For her.”
“I guess things were meant to happen the way they did,” I said.
“I guess they were,” he replied.
We tucked in and ate the burger and the fries. It was really good. I had no idea if it was bought in or homemade, but it was probably one of the best burgers I’d ever tasted. And the French fries weren't bad, either.
By the time we finished, I was full and happy, and we were on the top of the wheel’s cycle.
London was dark, and the lights of the skyline looked like fairy lights. August gave me his hand and took me to the edge of the booth to show me places.
The parliament. The bridges of London. The Tower of London. Skyscrapers with funny names. But I was too distracted for any of that.
I could feel his breath and the warmth of his body on my neck and back. The more places he showed me, the more restless I grew until I couldn't take it anymore, and I put my hand behind me, pressing his head to the back of mine.
August must have gotten the message because he pressed his whole body firmly against mine and peppered kisses along my neck.
“Oh, August,” I moaned before I could help myself.
“Is this okay?” he whispered in my ear, making the hairs behind it raise.
I nodded and he continued. I was probably doomed. I was probably ruining dating for myself because no one ever would be able to top this in the future.
And what if I compared August to everyone I met after him?
This was a mistake. This was such a huge mistake.
But regardless, I couldn't stop.
August took a deep breath and stepped away from me. His absence now a cold shower to my numb, overstimulated mind and body.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
“I am. But the evening is not over yet. And there is another surprise,” he said.
I smiled and dragged him back to me by the collar, this time, chest to chest, boner to boner, and kissed him again.
“I wouldn't mind staying here for the foreseeable future,” I told him, wiggling my eyebrows, hoping my message was coming across.
August looked at me with fire in his eyes and licked his lips.
“As much as I would love to take you up on your offer, we’re already on our way down, and our next stop is the perfect way to burn some calories. Or so I’m told.”
“Oh, I can burn calories here,” I said.
“I'm sure you can. But come on. I can't wait to see your reaction,” he said, looking like an excited child, as if the surprise was for him and not for me. It made me wonder what could top a private dinner on the London Eye.

There was a twinkle in Luke’s eyes, and it made my heart race just glancing at it. This evening was going far better than I had expected, and he appeared as starstruck as I’d hoped throughout our date on the London Eye.
When the capsule reached the ground, we stepped outside and exited the observation wheel, making our way down to the Southbank.
