“It’s almost like a fairy tale,” I said.

Fisayo laughed. “If you consider changing diapers a fairy tale, sure.”

I cringed and shook my head.

“I just realized you’ve probably changed little Auggie’s diapers, and excuse me a minute, I think I need to vomit,” I said, gagging.

It was so weird to think that the guy I’d spent the night with had been looked after by my own mother.

“I didn’t, actually. He was already potty-trained by the time I started. But Alice and Evander, yeah. I did.”

The names sounded Greek, but seeing as I hadn’t grown up learning it, I couldn’t be sure. They did sound elegant and intriguing though.

“I’m assuming those are August’s siblings.”

Fisayo nodded. “Two of them.”

This conversation was getting weirder and weirder. It felt like snooping on August’s life and also like my birth mother shouldn’t know everything about the guy I spent the night with.

It was all my fault, of course. I’d ignored those thoughts last night when he came to my room. It was easy to put those worries aside in the shadow of the moonlight, but fuck me if daylight didn’t bring everything to the surface tenfold.

I’d slept with a prince. A real prince.

Fisayo served two plates of pancakes and gave me a ton of options for toppings. I felt guilty for the extravagant spread. As if I was eating away Elysian-funded food and I’d be punished if I were caught.

But also, my stomach was loudly protesting, so I had no option but to eat.

“Tell me about my father. What was he like? How did you meet?” I said in an effort to forget August and the night of passion we’d just had, as well as to find out more about where I came from.

Yeah. That was the entire purpose of my trip here.

Not to have sex. Not to kiss men. And definitelynotto hook up with real life princes.

“And what did he say?”Beth asked hours later when I was back at Leo’s home and had told her everything that had happened.

She struck me as the kind of person who had lots of advice to give and zero judgements to pass.

“I don’t know. I didn’t see him after breakfast. I legged it out of there as soon as we finished and came straight home.”

Which was the truth. I had no idea if August had avoided me the whole morning or if he was in a meeting with his mother—The Queen ofFreakingElysia—but it served me just right.

What did you say to a prince after sleeping with him?“Thank you for a great night, Your Highness, I hope I pleased you so?”

“Why?”

“What do you mean why? I fucked a prince,” I screeched.

Beth grinned.

“There are worse things to fuck,” she said.

“I’m serious, Beth.”

“So am I. Ask me how I know.”

I laughed and shook my head.
