We ran under the porch, and he unlocked his front door.

“Where do we shelter, Adam?” I asked.

He should know this by now. He had told us in the practice that he’d been reading up on hurricanes, so he should have some kind of clue.

He showed me to the living room which was dark and spooky as the storm blazed outside, and I admired his handiwork with the windows and the supplies he’d stocked in the room.

I closed the living room door, and we were left in the dark.

“We need to get to the floor. Help me put the couch cushions down,” I said, and he did. We sat down next to each other, an LED lantern lighting the room at our feet while we waited out Ana.

Adam kept glancing around him whenever there was a creak, his face twitching at every sudden movement. All I wanted was to take him in my arms. Screw that work rule.

Well, I did promise him I’d look after him. So I had to keep that promise, right? And he still hadn’t said his name, so I was still in control.

“Come here, boy,” I told him and opened my arms to receive him.

He looked at me with the same puppy eyes as before and God, did I want to look at them for the rest of my days. Big, wonderful, and needy.

“Yes, sir,” he said and rested his head on my chest. I wrapped my hands around him, and the warmth his body radiated woke my senses.

“I’ve got you, sweetie,” I told him. “I’ve got you.”

I tightened my arms around him as my cock hardened in my pants and breathing became a chore. Because it felt as if I breathed, I would do something I’d regret.

Adam’s hands rested around the small of my back, and he nuzzled at my collarbone, his breath blowing hot on my neck.

A moan escaped me, and he looked up at me all vulnerable and defenseless.

It turned out to be my undoing.

“Kiss me, my boy,” I said.

Adam’s bottom lip quivered, and he eased it with a lick, his eyes anchored to mine.

He adjusted his neck and moved closer to my lips. I could hear his heart beating faster. His cheeks turned red.

As our lips were about to meet, I closed my eyes ready to savor their taste again.

But our lips never met. Instead, my ears rang with a word that I didn’t know I dreaded until I heard it.

“Adam,” he said.

Adam

He looked taken aback. I couldn’t blame him. I was taken aback by my own strength to refuse him. Especially when he had so sweetly and willingly helped me out earlier.

“Oh,” he said. It was barely audible, but it gave me whiplash, anyway.

And then he slowly moved his hands off me, looking at the floor beside him.

“I’m sorry. I… I misread your signals. I didn’t mean to—”

“No,” I said, and that made him look back at me. “Y-you didn’t.” I took a breath before I continued. “I-I want to kiss yousooobadly. But it wouldn’t be fair.”

Charlie drew his lips to a pained smile, and his eyes prodded me for more.
