“Not until we’re all dressed up,” I tell him.

“I’m dressing up?”

I look over to Tru, who smirks.

When I show Gordon his costume, he shakes his head and laughs it off.

“There’s no way I’m dressing up in that,” he says.

“Honey, you’re either gonna be Mike or Boo, and something tells me you’re not willing to wear a pink dress outside,” I tell him while holding his green costume in one hand.

“Is that a challenge?” He glowers at me with a hint of a smirk, and I’m very tempted to take off my long, pink T-shirt so he can dress up as Boo, but I’m loving my look tonight, so there’s no chance we’re swapping.

“Don’t do it for me, do it for Elsie,” I tell him. “Her look will be incomplete without her Mike. You can wear something else to the party.”

“Are you going to keep yours on for the party?”

“Of course, darling. I didn’t sew these pretty white socks for nothing,” I tell him.

“Then I guess it’s fine,” he says, and reluctantly takes the costume off my hands.

Once he’s dressed too, Zoe and Dolly also arrive. I told Zoe I could sew their costumes, but they chose to go for off-the-rack cheap sexy costumes so they look ready to go out and paint the town red, but not like a mom and her girlfriend about to take their daughter trick-or-treating.

“OMG, guys, y’all look so cute,” Dolly drools. “Next year, we have to coordinate a group costume.”

Gordon laughs.

“Good luck finding a five-cast theme,” he says.

“Well,” Dolly smirks, “we’ve got a year to brainstorm. Then Beau can make everything for us.”

“Sure. Sure. Let Beau be your slave. How do you know I’ll want to make your dresses next year?”

Dolly comes next to me and drapes her hand around me, squeezing me.

“Beau, sweetie, you’re making clothes for us for the rest of your life,” she says, and proceeds to laugh like the Wicked Witch she is dressed as.

“What’s my get-out clause?” I snap around and ask Gordon.

“Too late now,” he replies.

“You’re stuck with us forever,” Dolly says.

They both start cackling, and Elsie joins in on the fun while I’m just staring at them, definitely not amused.

Well, maybe just a little.

All these forevers are starting to get into my head. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think they were proposing to me.

“I think y’all are the cutest family I’ve ever seen,” Tru says, and the laughing maniacs stop to look at them. “Should-shouldn’t I have said that?”

“Please, sweetie. You couldn’t be more right. We’re a kickass family of five.”

“Party of Five?” Gordon asks her, and they start giggling to themselves. I have no idea what that means.

“Are you guys drunk? Do I need to catch up?” I ask.

Dolly rolls her eyes.
