“Nothing,” I breathed, raising a hand to his tight jaw. He leaned into my touch for a moment before grabbing my wrist and pinning it to my side. “Sebastian tried to… seduce me, and I was drunk on pleasure—” Daelon let out a low rumble, his eyes going wild, making me lose my train of thought. “I blurted out that I was bored when I thought I was just thinking it.”

His wild expression shifted to surprise as he let out a burst of laughter, and it was enough to turn my grimace into a shy smile. “Lucius fetched me soon after, and well, you know what happened next.”

“But he touched you,” Daelon said coolly. His gaze traveled down the length of my body. “Show me where.”

I melted into his commands, his voice carrying me away as if by trance. In this headspace, I would do anything to please him, anything to earn his touch. I raised my free hand to my neck. “He kissed me here.” My breathing was shallow as I trailed my fingers down to my collarbone and shoulder. “And along here.” My voice was so small, nearly a whisper.

Daelon went in for my neck, his kiss gentle at first before tugging at my skin with his teeth. I gasped, the most delicate blend of pleasure and pain overwhelming my senses yet again. He left a trail of these violent kisses along my skin, following the map I’d laid. I bent my neck to peer down, my eyes widening at the reddish marks of burst blood vessels he’d left on my skin.

The corners of his lips tipped upwards. “They’ll fade. You heal quickly. Where else?”

I hesitated, remembering the specifics of where Sebastian’s hands had been in the elixir-fueled haze. Daelon grasped my chin, staring deep into my eyes. “Where?” he repeated through clenched teeth.

I reached down to my left leg, trailing up, stopping just before I reached the apex of my thighs.

“Are you sure he didn’t touch you here?” Daelon asked, cocking his head as his fingers reached underneath my nightgown and between my legs.

“No.” He removed his hand quickly. “I mean yes, I’m sure he didn’t.”

“Good. Sebastian gets to keep his hands, after all.” And just like that his touch had returned, coaxing and gentle compared to the roughness of his disposition.

“You know you’re the only one I want, Daelon.” My words were like a melody for this jealous dance, and soon his lips met mine in a frantic choreography of possession.

I melted into the kiss with a kind of devotion that dissolved the rest of the world. I began and ended where his body met mine, and there was nothing I had to think—nothing I had to say or do—unless he commanded it so. And it tasted like freedom. It tasted like complete submission, carried through the fierceness of his lips moving against mine.

He pulled back. “Keep your eyes closed,” he whispered against my skin.

It was almost painful to have him move his body off of mine, a void opening up where I needed him to be. I was lost without him. My shield. My protector. I heard the opening and closing of a drawer, the shifting of clothes, the zip of a zipper, and finally the bed shifting beneath Daelon’s weight.

My every nerve ending was sensitive with anticipation, and everything became right again when his hands were back on me. I let him disrobe me of my nightgown, resisting the urge to open my eyes. My actions now hinged on the permission he granted.

“Your wrists, please, Áine,” he directed, and I followed. He kissed each one, and soon his fingers were twirling a silk fabric around my skin, tying it securely in place. He pulled each arm over my head toward the bedframe, and when his hands left mine, I realized I was immobile, unable to pull my arms free. “Is this okay?”

“Very okay,” I said, my voice raspy. I was met with a kiss to my forehead and then to my lips, where he responded to my desperation by pulling away completely. I frowned, and Daelon chuckled.

“You were right. That time in the cabin you joked about blindfolds… I aminto that, actually,” he said, his voice humored. “Please tell me if I push a boundary,” he said, serious now. “Understand?”

“Yes,” was all I could manage again, very aware of just how naked and immobilized I was as he fastened more silk over my eyes. “I never thought I’d actually enjoy you keeping me in the dark,” I joked in spite of myself.

I worried for a moment that I’d struck a nerve, his body stilling above mine. But then he laughed, and I let the sound carry me away like a rolling wave. It felt like Daelon was in his element, and I tried not to think too hard about the implications of that, along with all of Lucius’s off-handed remarks and anything to do withRenata.I pursed my lips, pushing out those thoughts. Whatever Daelon did before me was irrelevant. Wasn’t it?

“What is it?” he asked, and it was strange not being able to touch him, to look into his eyes or watch him as he moved. Strange, butexciting. He trailed his fingers along my torso, and I shivered.

“Nothing. I just love you,” I whispered.

He was silent for a moment, and then he sighed. “That’s a very sweet thought to have while I have you naked, tied up, and blindfolded in my bed.”

I giggled, wishing I could see the smile I knew he wore. We didn’t get to laugh with each other nearly enough. The consequence of being in love at the end of the world.

“I love that sound. And I love you too, sweet girl.” His fingers found themselves back between my legs, and I sucked in a breath. “You’re everything to me. And I will protect you and fight with you until my dying breath.” With just enough pressure, I felt my back arch beneath him. “But first I’m going to make you come for me.”

Soon his mouth and tongue had replaced the work his hand had been doing, and I was thankful he hadn’t commanded my silence. I couldn’t contain the moan that left my lips, not as he flicked his tongue over the most sensitive part of my body, and definitely not when a finger slipped inside me, and then another, and I felt carried away by the pleasure and warmth that moved from him to me, rippling out in waves across every inch of my skin. There was nothing like this in the whole world. Not in elixir or enchanted balls or sex parties. Only in Daelon. Only inus.

I writhed beneath him, twisting the silk bindings into my palms and clutching them tightly. I was so helpless, just as he wanted me. I knew he wanted me to feel just as helpless as he had last night, knowing I’d be someone else’s date.

“That’s it, little witch. Let go,” he commanded before he continued to drive me over the edge with his tongue, and I obeyed. Because it was only with Daelon that it was ever safe to do so in this dark castle.

The pleasure crested and fell as my body shook, and I couldn’t bear not to touch him any longer as I came down. “Please,” was all I had to say for him to understand and untie the fabric from the headboard and leave it to dangle from my wrists. I reached to him, my vision still bathed in darkness. I found his firm, bare chest, and then I found his abs and the V-shape of his muscles. I heard him suck in a breath as I moved lower, and he shifted to meet me.
