I keyed the code to unlock my office and stepped inside. “I wish the fuck you would. The only rapping you do is that weak ass game you’re always kicking to clients only trying to get a discount. Touch one of my jobs and I’m firing your ass.”
Bowie chuckled, unbothered because he was the best mechanic I had so he knew his job was secure. “You not gon’ introduce me to your guest? I didn’t know it was ‘bring a baddie to work’ day.”
“Nigga…” I pushed Yahzi behind me and grilled the fuck outta him.
“My bad.” He threw his hands up. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Yahzi. Maybe you being here will calm this muthafucker down. He is a very disgruntled boss.”
I chuckled, shaking my head while Bowie left my office. I made my way to the cabinet in the corner and removed two pairs of black coveralls. I handed one to Yahzi and she looked down at them while I shook mine out and stepped into the bottom.
“What’s this for?”
“You, put them on.”
“Why?” Her pretty face twisted and I slipped my arms through the sleeves of mine.
“Because I have work to do and I want you out there with me but I can’t have you around these muthafuckers like that or I’m gonna lose my entire staff. Well, everyone except Jordie but she would probably try you too. Jordie be on some other shit.”
“Who’s Jordie?”
“One of my mechanics. No, I didn’t fuck her. No, I don’t want to. Yes, she’s fuckable but I don’t shit where I sleep. More importantly, Jordie is cold with her skills so I would never fuck that up for a quick nut.”
Yahzi’s mouth dropped open then she grilled the fuck out of me, making me laugh as I approached and lifted the coveralls. I shook them out and motioned for her to come to me. “I’m just laying that shit out so we don’t have to do this out there in front of everyone. You won’t ever question your position in my life with an audience. If we have cracks, we mend them shits in the privacy of our home, never with eyes on us.”
She smiled slowly and let her teeth sink into her lip while I helped her into the coveralls. I zipped the front and grinned at how cute she looked. They were big as hell because they were purchased to accommodate me but her thick ass body was still present and visible.
“If I don’t like her or think she wants to fuck you, I’m firing her.”
“Bet, but if you do, you better know how to replace a carburetor or change a timing belt. I’m not losing money because your hardheaded ass don’t trust that the only pretty face I see and body I crave is yours.”
I gripped the side of her neck, delivered a kiss, and left my office. Yahzi followed me and we entered bay three where the Range Rover Sport I was doing a full wrap on waited. I had done most of it and only had to work on the area with deep curves and contours that required more time and focus before trimming the excess and reassembling what I had to remove to get the job done properly, like the lights and wheels.
“You did this?” Yahzi approached the Range Rover Sport. They wanted a matte black with a color change showing midnight blue depending on how the lights hit it. The job was for a Royals player who lived in Crescent Falls.
“Why you sound so surprised?” I moved behind her and dropped my arms around her waist, bringing Yahzi’s body to mine.
“I’m not. Well, I guess I am because this is a whole thing and you never talked about it. You can’t just wake up one day and know how to do stuff like this.”
“Yo ass is cutting hair and never talked to me about that,” I joked and she rolled her eyes, turning to face me but leaning against the side of the truck.
“I was too grown to not be doing something productive with my life and had bills. I also didn’t just wake up one day and magically know how to cut hair. Trust me, those thousand hours still haunt me.” She pouted, looking cute as hell.
“Your bills could have been paid with a phone call you refused to make.” I made sure our eyes met when I made that statement. “And I learned how to wrap vehicles from someone based in LA. I was out there for a couple weeks at their shop and picked up a few things.”
“You went to LA?”
“Again, why the hell you sound so surprised?”
“You’re not a travel to LA, or hell, anywhere for that matter, type of person.”
I moved closer, bent my neck, and kissed her. “Circumstances change, causing people to move differently. You’re my circumstance and I’m moving in a way that benefits us both. Now unless you’re helping me finish this up, I need you to chill over there.”
She grinned. “I get to watch you work. I think I might like that.”
“Bruh, move your ass so I can get this done and we can be up out of here.”
I spent the next three hours finalizing the details while Yahzi kept me company. This was all I needed in my life. A womangiving me her time and energy without wanting shit from me in return. A woman I could trust with my entire being who wasn’t afraid to stand ten toes down on holding me accountable for my bullshit because she wanted good things for me.
When Yahzi first left, I was seeing red. The anger and rage that remained on rotation in my head and flooded my body caused me to do a lot of dangerous shit. My aunt saw that darkness and jacked my ass up to set me straight.
