I lie still, my cock resting inside of her, enjoying the moment. Ellie lets out a small sigh, her breathing growing deeper. When I slowly lift my head, her eyes are closed, her thick lashes resting against her cheeks as she falls into a deep sleep.
My chest grows tight. Ellie is mine, and I’ll kill anyone who tries to say otherwise. I know I could never live without her. I’m not sure how I ever survived before.
Chapter Thirty-Two
ELLIE
“So it’s like you’re flirting with him?” Cosima is sitting on the desk next to my keyboard, her legs swinging back and forth.
“It’s not flirting,” Ronan says from behind me. I hear a gun cock. I turn my head to see him inspecting his weapons. Then he tucks the gun into the back of his pants. The few times I have seen Ronan with a gun, he wielded it easily, like it was a part of him. Cosima is the same way with a knife. I’ve watched her lazily play with a knife like it was a fidget spinner.
“She’s teasing him, and he’s doing it back.” This is true. We are now in a cat and mouse game; each time I pop up online, Cyberius pops up. He’s sent me a few messages that I haven’t responded to.
That had been part of the plan. I give Cyberius a small amount of attention, and then I ignore him. This is supposed to piss him off. I think it’s working, and I’m not the only one noticing that.
Cyberius has been poking his head out further than he should. He forgets he’s still not tucked away in Russia. It’s a whole lot easier to get access to him physically if you can find him.
“Stop trying to get him riled up.” I poke Cosima’s thigh. She knows exactly what she’s doing.
“He’s my brother. It’s part of my sisterly responsibility.” I snort a laugh.
“Is it time?” Tova knocks on the open bedroom door. “I don’t think I’ve left this house in a few weeks.” She doesn’t say it like it’s a bad thing. It’s more of an afterthought. Tova enjoys being home, and War enjoys keeping her here.
“War is really letting you come with us?”
“Yep.” Tova bounces on her heels. She is all dressed up with light makeup on.
“I love shopping. This is going to be so fun.” Cosima lets out a dreamy sigh. “It will be like old times. The last time we all went shopping was amazing.”
“You stabbed someone,” I remind her.
“And I got blood on me,” Tova adds, scrunching her nose. “Can we not get blood on me this time?”
“I make no promises.” Cosima hops down from the desk. She too is dressed up, making me wonder if I should change. I’m in jeans and a green oversized sweater that falls off one shoulder. I stand, leaving the computer running.
“You look good, little fox,” Ronan tells me.
“I swear you hack my brain.” I make my way over to him. Ronan has his foot up on the bench at the end of the bed, slipping a knife into his boot.
“I know my woman.” He leans in and kisses me.
“You good?” I ask.
“I’m good if you’re good.” I smile at that, knowing it’s the full truth.
“I’m always good if you’re close.”
“Always.” He cups the back of my neck, placing a hard, possessive kiss on me before we head downstairs, where Z, War, and Rochelle are waiting for us. Based on War’s demeanor, hedoesn’t seem very excited about this outing. I bet he’s having PTSD from our last shopping trip. I didn't think he was ever going to allow Tova to leave the farm after that.
Now Rochelle, on the other hand, is beyond excited about this. We are, after all, going wedding dress shopping.
I run my finger across the wedding band that I am wearing. When I woke up, it was magically there. It was the perfect engagement, if you ask me. It was very us.
"White is going to look so good on you with that red hair of yours." With how Rochelle talks about me, you'd think I’m a supermodel.
"Yeah, it will match the popcorn," Cosima says.
"What?" I ask, confused. Cosima brushes my hair off my shoulder, her hand coming back with a piece of popcorn in it.
