Lennart opened the door to let his brother enter. Björn didn’t seem thrilled to talk to him. But when was he, really?

Björn stopped in the middle of his workspace, crossed his arms and asked, “What’s so important? I don’t have all day.”

“I think you’ll find the time.” Lennart crossed his arms as well. He leaned his backside on the table and watched Björn’s face.

Björn challenged as usual. “Try me.”

Lennart looked at Björn closely. It seemed to him that Björn had no idea what he was about to be told. Lennart considered whether to drop the bomb right away or to inquire about their relationship first. This was his younger brother, and Lennart knew he should be careful sharing bad news.

In the back of his mind he remembered their father’s death.

“Tell me about your relationship with Scarlett Dover.”

“Haha! Mr. Detective discovered my affair? Bravo!” Björn laughed and clapped his hands.

Lennart barely refrained from making a face. “I wouldn’t be proud of that,” he said instead.

“And what are you going to do about it? Tell her husband, or talk me out of fucking her?”

“No, I have no intention of doing any of that,” Lennart said and hid his hands in his pockets. “Now, answer my question.”

“How much detail do you want to know?” Björn added with a smirk. “Unfortunately, I don’t have photos. Yet.”

Lennart looked at him unamused. “I don’t need to know the smutty stuff.”

“Then what do you want? Hm?” Björn asked and stretched his arms. “Why did you call me here?”

“How long have you been seeing each other? When was the last time you fought?”

“About a week?” Björn said, his face turning into a frown. “And no, we’ve never fought. Why would we? We saw each other to have a good time, not to argue.”

“Does Maya know about it?”

“Ah, Maya.” Björn sighed and shook his head. “She had some suspicions, but she doesn’t know shit.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!”

“Then what were you arguing about at the party?”

Björn’s eyes narrowed. “We weren’t arguing. We had a minor disagreement.”

Lennart pressed his lips together, and didn’t say anything, so Björn filled the silence. “Wait. What are we having this conversation for?” Björn’s brows furrowed.

Lennart avoided his question. “Did her husband beat her?”

“What? No! As far as I know, no.”

“Has she had another lover besides you?”

“What’s with these questions? No!” Björn said but seemed like he wasn’t sure whether he was the only one.

Lennart straightened up and took a step closer.

“Why are you asking me all this?”
