“Yeah. That’s him.”

Liam stared in disbelief. “But why is he in the cell?”

“We found his prints on the soap dispenser.”

“No shit!”

Lennart released a heavy sigh. “I had to lock him up.”

“In cell six?”

“Yeah.”

Liam looked at the screen again. There was only one cell that was being closely monitored. The other five cells didn’t have cameras directly pointed at them; only the hall was monitored and sections of each room. That one cell was reserved for a resident who commits the most serious offenses.

Ryosuke was lying on his side on a small metal bed facing the wall. The cell contained a wooden table and a chair and a toilet bowl with a sink next to it.

“Wow. I would never say that this guy was capable of killing anyone. He seemed… normal? Well, not completely normal, rather aloof, but I would never guess he could harm someone. Why the hell would he do that?”

“Honestly, I was sure Scarlett’s husband killed her. It would make a lot of sense. But the newest clues are all pointing to Ryosuke.”

“It’s weird. But it’s never good to judge a book only by its cover. And Richard and Ryosuke are complete opposites. Who’s that?” Liam pointed his finger when a woman appeared in the picture.

Lennart turned his eyes to the screen.

“That’s Ryosuke’s fiancé.” His eyes narrowed as he closely followed the scene.

When Ayame found out what had happened, she immediately went to see her fiancé. The guard let her in, and she nearly stumbled to Ryosuke’s cell.

“Ryosuke! I was waiting for you in our room but you didn’t come back and I couldn’t get you on the phone. I called everyone just to find you,” she said it all in one breath.

Ryosuke pushed himself into a sitting position. “They found my prints on the thing Scarlett was hit with.”

Ayame gasped. “What?”

“I’m officially the main suspect, Ayame,” Ryosuke said, and looked at the floor, his shoulders slumped.

“I don’t understand. How could that happen?”

Ryosuke shook his head. “I have no idea.”

Ayame gripped the bars. “What were you two doing in that restroom?”

“I told you all what happened. There’s nothing else!” Ryosuke snapped.

Ayame frowned. “So, what now?”

“Nothing. I have to wait until they prove I had nothing to do with her death or…”

“Or what? To prove that you’re guilty?”

“Technically, yes.”

Ayame shook her head. “I told you not to follow her. If you had listened to me then, you wouldn’t be in this mess now.”

Ryosuke narrowed his eyes and looked up.
