“Jesus Christ.” Gunner got up and started pacing.
Continuing, Haizley whispered, “She killed him, Massacre. She was sixteen when she snapped. It was her birthday, and Harold invited a few of his friends over. They took turns until they didn’t and gang-raped her all at once. I think that was the catalyst that sent her over the edge. That night, she showered and slipped into bed with her father for the last time. She seduced him, Massacre. She used her own body to overpower Harold, and that’s when she stabbed him in the heart. That night she left and never looked back. She lived on the streets for a while until she met Daniel Scott.”
Clenching my fist, I tried to stem the rage boiling deep in my gut because I knew the second Haizley lowered the fucking boom, I was going to hunt that motherfucker from here toeternity until I killed him with my bare hands. Keeping a tight grip on my rage, I growled, “Go on.”
Gulping, Haizley nodded as Gunner left the cabin.
No doubt to find King.
“At first, Dan took care of her. Giving her a life she never had before. She wanted for nothing because Dan gave her everything. In return, she repaid his kindness in the only way she knew. What she didn’t know was that Dan was slowly conditioning her.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“He’s a sexual sadist. He derives satisfaction only from inflicting pain on others.”
“He beat her!”
Haizley nodded. “That and more. For close to three years, Dan trained, manipulated, and coerced Amber into doing whatever he wanted, and then for another two years, he pimped her out to his friends until one of them became obsessed and wanted to buy her.”
“Who?”
Haizley slowly shook her head. “You have to promise me you won’t lose it. She needs you more than you need your anger.”
“WHO?” I yelled, making the woman jump as I faintly heard the door open behind me.
“He sold her to an associate of his. A man named Sebastian Capribella.”
“NO!” I roared, falling to my knees. My vision tunneled, and the room closed in around me as the name hit me like a punch to the gut. Sebastian Capribella—the very name struck fear into the hearts of many. He was a monster, a kingpin in the human trafficking trade, with a web of connections that spanned the globe. I knew of his depravity, saw it firsthand in the way he broke men, women and children and then turned them into shadows of their former selves. My club worked foryears to bring that sick motherfucker down, and when we finally succeeded, I stupidly thought that was it. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought my woman had been one of his victims.
“There’s something else,” she whispered as I hung my head, trying to stem the tears that threatened to fall.
“This Capribella wasn’t alone. Amber told me there was another. A man named George Stone.”
I closed my eyes tight as the rage inside me erupted.
Throwing back my arms, I screamed bloody murder as King and Gunner grabbed me, holding me down as I railed against them. George motherfucking Stone—a man I knew, a man I had done business with. I thought back to the nights we’d shared drinks, the deals we’d made, and my stomach turned. I had been in the presence of a monster and hadn’t even known it.
I felt sick, complicit in Amber’s pain.
How could I have been so blind?
“Finish it, Doc!” King shouted, trying unsuccessfully to hold me down.
Haizley continued, her voice steady, “Daniel Scott was Capribella’s right-hand man. He oversaw the day-to-day operations of the trafficking ring. He was the one who found buyers, arranged transactions, and ensured the victims stayed in line. He was a master manipulator, preying on the vulnerable and exploiting their fears.” She paused, her eyes filling with tears.
I couldn’t listen anymore. All I wanted was to kill the motherfucker. I didn’t care about anything, just my hands in that fucker’s chest as I ripped out his fucking blackened heart.
“FUCK,” Gunner grunted, his grip tightening around me as my mind erupted into a raging inferno. “He’s losing it, King!”
“Haizley, call Winchester and then go lock yourself in the room with Amber!”
The second I heard the woman run from the room, I lost any sense of self-preservation I had left as I fought the men holding me to the ground. Bucking wildly, I swung my fist, hitting something that grunted, before a heavy weight tackled me in the stomach.
The room spun as I struggled against the hands that held me; my vision blurred with rage. King and Gunner were strong, but my fury lent me strength, and I fought like a man possessed. I thrashed against the weight on my chest, my vision clouded by rage. King and Gunner struggled to hold me down, their voices distant as my mind whirled with images of Amber’s suffering.
Haizley’s words echoed in my mind, each one a hammer blow to my heart. Daniel Scott, the man I had encountered, was a monster, a puppeteer who traded in human misery. And Sebastian Capribella, a name that struck fear into the bravest of souls, was a demon I thought we had banished forever. But I knew the true extent of their evil was yet to be revealed, and my woman, my strong, beautiful Amber, had endured their cruelty.
As the weight of this knowledge threatened to crush me, a new wave of fury surged.
