I knew Bethany wouldn’t be happy waking up in another motorcycle club, but my options were sorely limited. I had tried the house across the street, but no one answered. “I’m so sorry about this, baby, but I don’t have a choice,” I whispered as I walked toward the clubhouse, my boots crunching on the gravel. On my approach, the club doors opened and out rushed several brothers in the Silver Shadows, only to stop dead in their tracks when they saw my gun pointed at them.

“Holy fuck,” a brother gasped, his patch saying his name was Romeo. “Is that Amber?”

And just like that, they all drew their guns and pointed them at me.

“I’m gonna kill you,” the man in front said, wearing a president patch.

I grinned, never taking my eyes off the large fucker. “Good luck with that.”

“Oh my God.” A cute woman with braided hair gasped, walking forward. “You’re him, aren’t you? The one who saved her all those years ago. You’re Massacre.”

“Oh shit,” the brother standing next to the president cursed, refusing to put his gun away. “Someone go get Sypher, fast!”

The president of the Silver Shadows groaned as he put his gun away. “Why do I get the feeling that trouble just landed on my doorstep again?”

Just then, the clubhouse doors flew open, and out walked several familiar faces. All I knew very fucking well. Ignoring the man before me, I stared at the familiar woman as her face paled. “You promised me she’d be safe.”

“She was,” the older woman gasped as a man walked around her.

“Massacre, she’s hurt. She needs help.”

“Fuck off, Bane,” I sneered. “What the fuck are you doing here, anyway?”

Valhalla grabbed Bane’s arm. “We can discuss that later, Massacre. Right now, Amber needs medical attention. King, can I use your club infirmary or do I need to take her to the hospital?”

“Patch has everything you should need. If he doesn’t, we’ll get it for you.”

Bane stepped closer and tried to take her from me. “I’ll carry her.”

“Take her from me and I’ll kill you.”

Val moved fast, stepping between the two of us. “August, let him carry her. I need your help. Kytten, go help Patch get the room ready.”

“Sure thing, Val.” The pink-haired pixie rushed off to do as she was told.

“Massacre, please follow me,” Val sternly said, grabbing Bane’s arm and yanking him toward the clubhouse.

“Mass,” Sypher whispered close. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

Looking at the kid, I glared. “I’m taking over.”

“Let me get this straight,” King, the president of the Silver Shadows Nebraska chapter said, sitting in his chair, as he tried to control the temper rising within him. I’d seen that look before. Reaper had it many times when I was involved. Only King wasn’t my Prez and, well, I’d heard he wasn’t as smart as Reaper, so maybe I’d get out of this mess with the skin on my back. “Reaper sent you to my town to do what? Take a fucking vacation?”

I nodded as I looked around church. “Something like that.”

After leaving Bethany with Val and the others, King ordered me into church. I knew what he wanted, but he could get fucked because I wasn’t going to give him shit. The reason for my being here was moot, as far as I was concerned, the second I saw her stumble out of those fields. What I wanted to know was how the fuck she even got here, and why she was living in a motherfucking clubhouse? The last I knew, she wanted nothing to do with biker clubs.

“Was it like that? Or is it that?” Cash, the club’s VP, asked, standing behind his Prez with his arms crossed over his chest. It was a pure dominant move. Something I’d seen Ghost do many times as the beta backed up the alpha. To the person on the receiving end, it was a power play, a show of dominance meant to instill fear.

Too bad that shit didn’t work on me. I’d seen and done enough shit in my life that my nightmares had nightmares.

“It’s more like he told me to find the kid and stay put.”

Okay. So that wasn’t the entire truth, but they didn’t need to know the specifics.

“Me?” Sypher’s head swiveled toward mine as he looked at me. “Why me?”

I shrugged. “Don’t know, kid. You know I do exactly what the bossman tells me to do.”
