Blaze looks back at Fox, before he turns to Katie, raising an eyebrow.“Why’s he asking for Cameron specifically?”
“He’s legit joking, right?”I ask.
Katie shrugs, looking apologetic.“He specifically asked for you.Said if you didn’t come, he’d let Leo know. And you don’t want that, trust me.”She gives me a sympathetic smile.Fox really would go this far, just to mess with me.
“Excuse me,” Blaze says, heading back to the booth.Lexi is chatting animatedly to Fox, who’s only half-listening as he keeps his eyes on me, his smirk never faltering.
“He sounded like he knew you, Cam.And he was very specific,” Katie says, watching me.
I sigh.“He’s my roommate…and a fucking jerk.”
“Oh my God, Fox Wilder is your roommate!”Katie exclaims, a bit too loudly.Blaze and Fox both look our way, and I give Katie a look that says, please stop talking.
She giggles, covering her mouth.“Sorry, but that’s so cool. He’s, like, super hot.”Yeah, girl. You think I don’t know that?
Fox gets up and strides over to the counter, while Blaze stays behind, taking his seat across from Lexi.
“Scared to take my order, Brooke?”Fox says, using my last name like it’s some sort of insult.
I bite back a retort, narrowing my eyes at him. He’s clearly enjoying this.
“Or do I need to talk to your manager about your little ‘customer service’ skills?”he taunts.
Unbelievable. He’d really threaten my job over this?I swallow my irritation, glance at Leo, who’s watching us from across the room and remind myself to be professional.
Putting on the most customer-friendly smile I can muster, I look up at him.“What can I get you, please?”

Stuck In The Middle
“WhatcanIgetyou today, please?”I ask, keeping my tone as neutral as possible.
“Brooke, I didn’t know you were this shy,” he says, emphasizing my last name like he’s mocking me.
I stare at him, trying to keep my voice even.“I’m just here to take your order, Fox.”
“Why don’t you surprise me?”He leans forward, his smirk widening, clearly enjoying every second of my discomfort.
“Surprise you?”I repeat, deadpan.
“Yeah, Cam.You’ve known me for what—two months now?Should be enough time to know what I’d like.”
“Alright.Do take your seat and I’ll be back with your order,” I say flatly, glaring at him.
Fox chuckles, the sound deep and arrogantly sexy as he turns on his heel and walks back toward his booth.
With a forced smile, I pick up Fox’s order when it’s ready and head back to the booth.“Here you go,” I say, setting the plate in front of him.
He picks up a fry, his eyes meeting mine with that same mocking look.“Thanks, Brooke.I knew you’d get it just right.”
Gritting my teeth, I turn to leave, but he calls after me, “Hey, you forgot something.”
I freeze, turning back around.“What?”
“Good service usually comes with a smile.”What a bastard.
“How come you’re his roommate and I’ve never seen you?”Lexi pipes up, sounding almost annoyed.
