“Will do.”
Nat groans again and slumps back in her seat.Landon chuckles.
“Thanks, Nat,” I say sweetly.“You’re an angel.”
“You better hope he doesn’t agree to this,” Nat mutters, and I laugh as I get out of the car.
“See you tomorrow,” I say, heading into my apartment building.
Once inside the apartment, I shut the door behind me and head straight to my room.I pull out my phone and dial Blaze’s number, setting it to speaker before tossing my bag onto the bed.Sitting down, I start untying my shoes.Blaze answers after a few rings.
“Cam?”
“Yeah, hey,” I say, kicking off my shoes and leaning back against the headboard.
“How are you?Are you at home?”
“Yeah,” I reply.“About Friday—can I bring someone?”
There’s a pause on the other end, the silence stretching long enough to make me wonder if the line’s still connected.
“Landon?”he asks finally.
“Yeah, and Nat.”
“Who’s Nat?”Blaze sounds genuinely confused, and I raise an eyebrow. How does he know Landon but not Nat?
“Landon’s friend.The lesbian,” I clarify.That should jog his memory.
“Oh.Her,” he says, his tone light with recognition.
“Yeah.I’ll need company in that big crowd.”
“Sure,” he says casually.
“Are you sure?”
“It’s fine,” he assures me.
“You’ll have to treat him nice because he’s my friend,” I warn.Blaze chuckles softly.
“I promise I’ll behave.”
“It’s a little strange you don’t like Landon,” I say.
“I didn’t say that.”
“You don’t treat him with respect. You’re always calling him the F-word,” I remind him.
There’s a beat of silence before Blaze asks, “Did you tell him I’m gay?”
“No,” I answer firmly.“I figured you wouldn’t want anyone to know.”
“Thanks, Cam,” he says quietly.
“Of course,” I reply.“Anyway, I’ll see you Friday.”
Blaze laughs lightly.“See you, Cameron.Be careful, okay?”
