“I don’t think he stalks me,” I argue.

Nat snorts.“Of course he does. And the way he watches you? It’s disgusting, especially since he won’t admit he likes you.”

“He’s scared,” Landon interjects.“His father’s a big-time homophobe, and he’s also the school chancellor.That’s a lot of pressure.”

“My parents are homophobes too,” I point out.

“Yeah, but they don’t live a few miles from your school,” Landon replies.“Fox’s every move is under scrutiny. He’s got a lot going on with his family—more than anyone probably knows. He barely talks about it.”

I fall silent, mulling over Landon’s words.I know Fox has issues with his father, but I’ve never really asked about his mom.The truth is, I know almost nothing about the man I can’t stop thinking about.

“So, now that final exams are coming, what are your plans for Christmas?”Landon asks.

“Go home, spend time at my mom’s bakery,” I say with a shrug.

“I doubt Leo will let you,” Nat chimes in.

“Seriously?”I groan.

Landon and Nat laugh.

“You’ll survive,” Landon says, patting my shoulder.

We pull into my neighborhood, and the quiet scenery greets us like always. It’s peaceful, calm.A stark contrast to Fox’s parties and loud music.

Fox.Why can’t I get him out of my head?

“Blaze asked me to come to their game on Friday,” I say abruptly.

“Blaze?”Landon asks, sounding surprised.

“Yeah.He wants me to come.”

“When did you two become friends?”Landon presses.

“About a month ago,” I reply.“He’s… cool.”

Landon raises an eyebrow but doesn’t comment.Nat, however, has no filter.

“You don’t think Fox is going to get the wrong idea about you and Blaze?”she asks.

“Probably. But that’s why I want you guys to come with me,” I say.

“Oh no,” Nat groans.

“Come on, guys.I’ve never been to a soccer game before, and I don’t want to go alone. Please?”I plead.

Landon and Nat exchange a look.Nat’s expression is a clear warning, but Landon shrugs.

“It’s just a game,” he says.“What’s the big deal?”

“Thank you,” I say, relieved.

“You owe us,” Nat grumbles, crossing her arms.

“Of course,” I reply with a grin.

“Text Blaze and let him know we’re coming,” Landon adds.
