“Would you like anything else? I can get it for you right now,” he asked, eyes bright with excitement.

The thought of being near Emily filled him with nervous energy—his crush only growing stronger seeing her so poised and beautiful.

Emily gently grabbed his arm, “I really need you to stop,” she tried to reassure him. “You don’t have to do all this. I’ll still help you with whatever you need, I promise.”

Harold paused mid-step, glancing between the cold drink and her face. Then he smiled and said, “Alright then, how about you and I grab a coffee together? I want to thank you properly for offering your help.”

“That’s not necessary. I’m fine. I’ll help you with everything you need,” Emily said, trying to ease his concern.

“It’s just a coffee,” Harold said, his eyes pleading softly. He lowered his voice and asked quietly, “There’s a café next door. Come on, you must be tired after working so long. A quick coffee won’t hurt.”

Emily hesitated, glancing at her watch. They still had time, and after working for hours, she really did need a break. She smiled at Harold and said, “Alright then, let’s go.”

Harold’s face lit up instantly with excitement as he guided her forward. “This way,” he said, leading her out.

They stepped into a café down the street from the hotel. Brick walls, warm yellow lights, and shelves of books and plants gave it a cozy yet upscale feel. The air was rich with the scent of coffee and fresh pastries.

They stepped into the café and placed their orders. Moments later, they settled into a quiet corner, each holding a warm drink.

“You seem to love chocolate,” Harold observed, nodding toward her hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and a slice of cake on the side.

Emily smiled. “Yes, I do. I haven’t had one in a long time.”

They both smiled and soon got engaged in easy conversation. Just as their cups were nearly empty, Harold leaned in with curious eyes. “So… do you have a boyfriend?”

Emily’s mind instantly flicked to Sebastian. ‘He’s my husband, so technically not a boyfriend... I wouldn’t be lying,’ she thought.

She answered, “No, I don’t have a boyfriend.”

Harold shifted in his seat, excitement bubbling. “What kind of boyfriend would you want?”

Emily’s thoughts wandered back to Sebastian, and before she realized it, she was describing him perfectly.

“Dark eyes, over six feet, long hair,” she said softly, remembering how he looked at her. His intense gaze, his strong, naked body with perfect abs, tall and sexy. She shivered slightly at the memory of his look when they were together—and even when they weren’t, his eyes always seemed to follow her, as if he’d never let her out of his sight.

Suddenly aware of how much she’d shared, Emily grabbed the hot chocolate and looked up at Harold, frowning playfully. “Why are you asking me all these questions?”

Before Harold could reply, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen, and Sebastian’s name flashed brightly.

Emily picked up the call. “Hello?”

Harold, who had been shifting nervously in his seat, was ready to answer her earlier question—but now he was lost in thought. ‘Should I confess that I have a crush on her? Should I finally ask her out?’

Sebastian’s voice came from the other end of the call. “Where are you?”

“Just a few blocks down from the hotel. I’m at a café. It’s—” She glanced around, then spotted the name on the door. “It’s Café Amour.”

There was a pause on the other end. Then Sebastian asked softly, “How’s the evening going? Everything alright?”

“Everything’s fine,” Emily replied. “The event’s all set. I’m just having a hot chocolate.”

“Alright,” Sebastian said. “I’m coming over to pick you up.”

“Really?” Emily said, a pleasant surprise flickering in her voice. “I’ll wait for you.” Then she ended the call.

Harold looked at her with curiosity. “Who was that? Something related to the event?”

“No, it was Sebastian,” she answered absentmindedly, then caught herself. Quickly, she added, “Don’t read too much into it. Sebastian Graves—he’s a project partner for tonight’s event. You know him, right? Must be like your boss’s boss or something?”
