Sebastian’s blood boiled.

Every second Lucas stood on that stage, dismissing what he had shared with Emily, was a fresh slap to Sebastian’s already fraying restraint. His patience cracked, and fury began to seep through the fractures.

He had watched Emily fall for that bastard—day after day, heartbreak piling up as she loved him with a reckless devotion. The effort it took to hold himself back, to resist the urge to just take her away and keep her for himself, had nearly shattered him more than once.

The girl he fell for at first sight had started a relationship with another man the very day he planned to propose, on her college graduation.

And now, that same man stood on the stage, acting like she never even existed in his life.

He took a step forward, prepared to storm up there and rip him apart—

Then stopped.

His eyes landed onher.

Emily.

Seated in the crowd. Poised. Quiet. Her expression completely neutral.

She didn’t even blink at Lucas’s words. No reaction. No pain. No betrayal. Just indifference.

Sebastian’s steps halted. A slow, wicked smirk crept across his face.

“He really doesn’t exist for you anymore, does he?” he whispered, pride flickering in his eyes. Then, quieter, darker—

“That’s my girl.”

Chapter 2 Ruin Everything

As the event ended and Emily turned down a hallway, brushing Lucas off with a cold finality, Sebastian moved. With a firm grip, he pulled her into the room beside the ballroom and shut the door behind them.

She gasped, stumbling slightly.

Before she could even make a sound, Sebastian wrapped his arms tightly around her from behind. He inhaled her scent—warm, familiar, maddening—and leaned in, pressing his face into the curve of her neck, where he belonged.

With hushed whispers and burning need, he had her beneath him once more.

His mouth brushed her ear, then wandered lower—lips skimming her skin, teasing, until they reached the curve of her neck. Then he bit down.

Her breath caught, a moan slipping out before she could stop it.

His voice, dark and sinful, spilled against her throat—

“I’m going to put a ring on your finger... then ruin you until you forget how to stand without me. Every night. Every filthy way. You'll breathe only for me."

Lifting his head, he locked eyes with her, the obsession in his gaze burning through every inch of distance.

“You’re going to marry me, Emily.”

Her lips parted, but no sound came out at first. Her brows drew together, heart thudding wildly beneath him.

She gripped the front of his shirt, her knuckles white, breath catching in her throat as her wide eyes locked onto his.

“Are you… joking?” she whispered, disbelief flickering across her face as her brows knitted together, searching for some hint of mockery in his eyes.

He didn’t blink. Instead, he leaned in closer, his body caging hers, the heat of him pressing into every inch of her.

“Do I look like I’m joking?” he murmured, his voice a low, uncompromising rumble.
