The man had deliberately kept this a secret the night before, wanting her to wear only those revealing nightdresses in front of him!
And now, with every passing moment, Emily was beginning to realize just how much trouble she might be in with Sebastian Graves as her husband.
Chapter 6 Getting Over Old Love
Emily stepped out of the bedroom and found Sebastian lounging casually on the couch in the living room, flipping through a newspaper.
As soon as he saw her, he folded it and rose smoothly to his feet.
“Come here,” he said softly, reaching out his hand. “Let’s have breakfast.”
He stepped closer, took her hand, and gently guided her toward the dining table just beyond the living room.
He led her to the dining table, which was lavishly spread with everything she loved—fresh mango slices, ripe berries, avocado toast topped with cherry tomatoes, a bowl of coconut yogurt with granola, scrambled eggs with herbs, and crispy turkey bacon.
Stunned, she looked at him, then back at the table. ‘How does he know what I like?’ she wondered.
‘Maybe I’m overthinking it…’ she told herself, shaking the thought away. ‘We’ve only spent one night together. How could he know so much about me?’
She sat down, and Sebastian took the seat beside her. They sat side by side, Sebastian serving her first before taking his own plate. Throughout the meal, his eyes never left her—attentive, intense, as if memorizing every detail.
She picked up a toast and took a bite. Her eyes lit up in disbelief.
“Wow…” she whispered. “This tastes like the ones I used to eat in college. There was this guy who sold these near campus—I loved them.”
Sebastian smiled at her reaction, warmth softening his sharp features.
“I made it for you.”
Her jaw dropped. “You really made this? From scratch?”
He nodded, eyes gleaming. ‘Every memory about you is still fresh in my mind,’ he thought, his heart swelling with happiness seeing her reaction. ‘How could I forget what you love?’
His heart leapt seeing her smile, knowing he’d made her happy.
He’d watched her daily.
But he never confessed, waiting patiently until she graduated.
And then, he watched helplessly as she fell for Lucas instead.
To keep his jealousy in check, he kept his distance, swallowing the pain of seeing her with another.
As they ate, his smile never faltered. Watching her enjoy each bite filled his chest with a quiet happiness he struggled to hide.
Later, they left Sebastian’s house and walked to his car, heading to the courthouse to get their marriage certificate.
Within the hour, they returned, marriage certificates in hand.
As they reached his sleek car, Sebastian paused, pulling her close. His arm curled tightly around her waist, pressing her body flush against his.
He dipped his head, trailing a slow, burning kiss along her cheek before capturing her lips in a searing, hungry kiss. A happy smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he deepened the kiss just enough to leave her breathless.
“We’ll have a grand wedding ceremony as soon as you decide to make our marriage public,” he whispered, his breath warm against her skin.
She bit her lip nervously, voice barely above a whisper. “Is that really necessary? Haven’t we already gotten the marriage certificate? Isn’t that the same as being married?”
Sebastian’s fingers brushed her cheek softly, tracing a slow, gentle line as he leaned in to press a lingering kiss to her temple.
