As the two of them jumped, the whole first floor shook with each bass note blaring through the stereo. All the pillows lay discarded on the floor as if they’d had a pillow fight. One of them was ripped, its feathers scattered across the carpet. It was comical.

“Father, I told you no.” My sister’s angry voice came from behind me, and I turned around to find Father and Aurora standing a foot away. I glared at him while Aurora shot me an apologetic look.

“He feels better,” she mouthed.

Imagine that. All of a sudden, he was cured. That manipulative snake.

I gritted my teeth, wanting to lash out, but I didn’t want to appear heartless in front of my new wife and my son. My siblings knew who and what our father was, but it’d be different with my son. He only projected kindness and love, because that was how my wife and Billie raised him.

My father ignored me, his eyes locked on my new family as he looked like he’d been struck.

So with a clenched jaw, I turned my back on my father and focused on the good in my life.

Odette jumped up and down, and I thanked all the saints that she was wearing a bra, otherwise I’d have to blind my brothers. She was wearing a black chiffon designer dress with silver straps that matched the ones on her new pair of Gucci boots. Despite the forced arrangement—for her, not me—my wife was glowing. She looked healthy, rested, and happy.

Was she though?I pondered. It was hard to tell.

Royce let out a soft chuckle next to me. Aurora grinned, watching my family dance. Were my wife’s moves sexy and sensual? Probably not, although she still managed to get my dick hard. Even after a week of taking her body every night, I couldn’t get enough of her.

“She’s dancing like she’s on a trampoline,” Father hissed, clearly displeased. He could always leave. He knew where the door was.

I couldn’t care less how she danced, as long as those smiles and happiness remained on their faces. Her face was flushed, her red hair whipping through the air as she held Ares.

My chest warmed, the sensation swimming through me.

She threw her head back and laughed, a big grin on Ares’s face lighting up the room. It was the best feeling in the world seeing them happy.

My wife stopped jumping. “We need some water. Right, buddy?” She sounded breathless.

He nodded, and she whirled around. When she spotted us, she stiffened immediately.

“Having fun?” Her eyes darted around, that happy smile still frozen on her face. Her eyes slowly traveled over my brothers—Winston and his grumpiness, Royce and his grin, my baby sister along with her family… until her eyes landed on my father. Any remaining happiness on her face was wiped clean.

Smoothing my hand over my waistcoat, I walked over to the stereo and turned it off. The music stopped, and the silence that followed was deafening as she stood frozen with Ares in her arms.

“Jesus, it’s like a zoo here,” Father declared.

Ignoring him, I moved toward my wife. I leaned down and kissed her cheek, watching the color rising on her porcelain skin. Then I turned to Ares and ruffled his hair. “Hey, buddy. Did you take good care of your mom today?”

My son’s eyes darted over my shoulder, then back to me, before nodding.

“Remember, tonight is our family dinner night,” I said coolly. “My father decided to invite himself since he’s a sore loser.”

She blinked, her eyes darting to my father and then back to me. “I guess I didn’t realize you meant yourentirefamily.”

I suddenly realized the misunderstanding. I told her we were having afamily dinner. She took it to mean just the three of us. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me happy. If she already thought of us as family, we were moving in the right direction.

“Here, let me introduce you to my siblings aside from Winston, whom you know.” I led her to where my family still stood. “Okay, the youngest and probably the nicest is Aurora.”

My sister didn’t waste time, she wrapped them both into her arms. “Welcome to the family. As fucked up as it is, some of us are okay.”

Odette looked at me, probably wondering if Aurora was joking. Unfortunately, she wasn’t.

“Nice to meet you.” Odette shifted Ares on her hip. He was too big to be carried, but for some reason, she refused to let him go. “This is my son. Ares.”

Aurora’s brows shot up. Maybe I should have given them all a warning. To her credit, my sister didn’t comment on it. Thank fuck. The last time we’d had this conversion, we all thought he was Winston’s son.

Instead, she brought Kostya forward.
