An hourlater I headed back to the villa.

My cheeks burned remembering the incident earlier. Luca was too easy to cave into. Besides, no sex worked against me. Although I have to admit, I didn’t hate Luca’s hands on me. In fact, I loved it.

Anyhow, it was best not to read too much into it.

I took my time getting ready tonight. I took a shower, then put some mascara on and lots of lotion all over my body. I was slightly paranoid about the stretch marks that were bound to follow after I gave birth. So I applied extra lotion, just in case.

For dinner together, I chose a yellow maxi dress that didn’t hide my pregnant belly, but it still made me feel attractive.

Heading down the stairs, I went into the dining room where Nonno and Luca already sat at the table. Guido too. He was Nonno’s long standing bodyguard-slash-friend-slash-cousin.

Luca and Nonno stopped talking immediately, their eyes coming my way. Nonno wore his usual, but Luca looked handsome. Too handsome for his own good. Or my good. He wore a white dress shirt, the first two buttons at his throat undone, revealing his dark skin and glimpses of his tattoos.

My step faltered and suddenly the images of the night in Vegas slammed into my brain. I never got to study my stranger’s inked skin. It was too hard to see through the mask and he kept the room dark.

But the stranger’s touch… It was the same feeling I had with Luca when he touched me earlier.

A rush of desire swept through me and I swallowed hard.

My orgasm was fucking with my head. I had to forget about all that.

Luca’s eyes swept over my body, lingering on the glimpse of my bare ankles before returning to my face. There was no trace of that smugness I had come to know in his eyes. Only lust that burned and caused throbbing between my thighs.

“Sit next to me,” Luca stated. His smoldering gaze told me he was used to getting his own way. For once, I didn’t mind it. I took a spot next to him and his hand came to rest on my thigh, searing through my dress.

Jesus, what was happening to me? There wasn’t even anything sexual about his touch.

“Nonno suggested something, and I’d like your opinion,” Luca said, pulling my thoughts away from everything sexual.

My eyes traveled curiously around the table. Nonno had a smug, happy smile on his face. Strangely enough, Guido looked slightly put off. Or maybe that was his agitated look.

“Bene, bene,” Nonno said with a grin. “It’s good to consult with your wife when making such big decisions.”

I didn’t bother correcting him that we weren’t married yet. Instead, I returned my eyes and locked gazes with Luca. I could feel a slight heat enter my cheeks, but I was determined not to make this sexual.

We’d be equals. Partners. Although if he touched another woman, she’d be dead before sunrise.

The violence of the thought surprised me.

“How do you feel about marrying Luca DiMauro rather than Luca King?” His question had me widening my eyes. “Nonno wants to pass on the DiMauro business to us. You and me.”

I opened my mouth. No words came out. So I closed it and opened it again. “With the baby, not sure I can do much,” I admitted softly.

Nonno chuckled. “No job murdering people for my girls. You will be Luca’s sounding board. Like my wife was mine.” A soft smile curved my lips. I didn’t hate the idea at all. In fact, I liked it.

My eyes darted to Luca. “How do you feel about it?”

A sardonic breath left Luca. “I was always more DiMauro than King. This island was where I was always happy. Not in New York. And certainly not with my father. Nonno is family. Benito never was.”

A hint of bitterness inched its way from his lips and into my heart. I could only fathom how hard it was growing up under the cruelty of Benito King.

My tongue swept across my bottom lip. “Truthfully, I don’t mind it,” I admitted softly.

“You’d be okay living in Sicily instead of New York?” Luca asked. “You are a New Yorker through and through.”

I smiled. “I came to a revelation that I like Europe better. So no, I wouldn’t mind. As long as the baby is safe.”

My hand roamed my belly gently, feeling my baby girl kick. It seemed she was happy too.
