CHAPTER60
Davina
Liam had been on the phone with everyone and anyone under the sun. He was ready to go into attack mode, but he had to play his cards right. There was so much more at stake here. It could destroy Wynter, and I couldn’t help but worry for her.
With the phone calls done, the silence in the penthouse was too loud. Just as my thoughts were. Garrett’s actions were incomprehensible. It was such a waste of life, but he had chosen his path when he decided to work with Gio DiLustro and kidnapped me. It all still seemed so odd to me.
“Okay, my love,” Liam came back after walking Quinn back to the elevator door. “I know you have many questions.”
My eyes lifted to his tall, strong frame, standing in front of me. Thank God he came for me, just as he promised. He said he’d always come for me.
“Why would Gio DiLustro go to such lengths for me? He saw me for barely a minute,” I inquired.
“Gio DiLustro enjoys inflicting pain on people. He won’t rest until he destroys us all. I failed to protect my sister from him, but I’ll be damned if I fail again.” I held his gaze and I knew he blamed himself for not protecting his sister. “You mean everything to me, Davina.”
“Really?” I asked, hopeful.
I reached my hand for him and he jerked me up, engulfing me in his huge arms.
“You mean the whole world to me, my céile.” His eyes shone like blue sapphires. “You’re my oxygen, my heart and my lungs.”
His lips pressed against mine, consuming me. Devouring me. Like he truly couldn’t breathe without me.
“I want to see you for the rest of my days on this earth,” he breathed into my mouth. “Your place is at my side and my place is at yours. I love you, my céile. Forever.”
“Forever,” I repeated.
Then Liam grinned and the entire universe glowed. “The night that you peeped on me in the shower was the best thing that happened to me.”
A strangled laugh escaped me, remembering that night that started it all.
“I love you,” I whispered against his cheek. “I have no idea how or when it happened. Maybe when you spanked me.” He smirked in that hot and bothersome way. “I just know that my heart and my body are yours.”
He kissed me again, and the entire world tilted.
I knew whatever was happening was far from over, and somehow all of our lives were going to be changing soon. But whatever this threat was that loomed over us, I knew we'd survive it. We had to.
Nothing would come between Liam and I, and nothing would hurt our family. Whatever this war was... we'd survive... and we'd win.
For him and I. For our family.
Epilogue
DAVINA - THREE MONTHS LATER
Ifell in love with Ireland and my Irish man.
Life had been a whirlwind, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. This family was what I had always craved, what I have always hoped for. I had everything I needed right here.
My husband. My grandfather and father-in-law. My best friends. My sister and her family.
I breathed in deeply, the scent of fresh air invading my lungs. It was July, a perfect time to visit Ireland. And I hoped Wynter would take this time and heal. My eyes flickered to my friend where she sat by the lake. I was worried about her.
Oddly enough, it was Sasha that sat with her and seemed to be able to pull her out of her depression. He even went running with her in the morning while here. Lunatic, but I was glad for him. He seemed to be able to distract her at least a little bit.
“She’ll be okay.” Liam’s voice pulled me back, his big arms wrapping around me, and instantly I leaned back, soaking up his strength. His big hand snaked down to my belly, gently rubbing it. I was six weeks pregnant, due next March. Right after Wynter’s Olympics.
The little bundle of joy timed it perfectly.
