“He’s all bark no bite.” Davina stood up, as if she was going to leave too, but her breakfast was still unfinished.

“Finish your breakfast, Davina,” I encouraged her. She had amazing curves, and selfishly, I wanted her to keep them. Was I getting ahead of myself? Yes, probably. But hey, life was short, and we had to have something to look forward to.

“Yes, stay and finish,” Juliette encouraged her friend. “Wynter isn’t finished either.”

Juliette lacked observation skills because my niece has been done for the past five minutes.

“Just finish your breakfast,” Wynter told her, never lifting her gaze. “My coach always says breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Then she snorted and continued, “Though to this day, I’m not certain if that was the coach speaking or my mother.”

“Both,” I told her.

Davina reluctantly sat down. It took another minute before Wynter stood up and left too.

Finally alone.

Davina took another bite. I watched her with interest, even though she worked hard at looking anywhere but my way.

I leaned back in my chair and focused on her. She picked up a butter knife and readied to spread cream cheese on her bagel, though her movement almost seemed exasperated. She wanted to be anywhere but here.

“How did you like last night?” I asked her and she dropped her knife with a loud clunk. Her dark gray eyes flashed to me, her mouth slightly parted. I could see the blotchy blush on her chest and neck that her tank top did nothing to hide.

“Did you enjoy the show?” This time, a sardonic kind of amusement filled me and I was probably a bastard for not letting it go.

She took a deep breath, then exhaled. Inhaled again and then exhaled.

“Y-yes,” she stammered and then quickly added, “I mean, no.” She swallowed hard. “It was an accident,” she added quickly.

I raised my eyebrows. “It was an accident that you found yourself in my room.” She nodded so vigorously, I worried she’d give herself a whiplash. “And it was an accident that you peeked through the bathroom door.” She nodded again and her eyes hazed with lust.Good!“And I’m sure it was an accident that you stood there and watched me jack off.”

A soft gasp filled the room and her gray eyes turned a shade darker. She really had the most amazing colored eyes. They were the color of clouds right before a thunderstorm. Something about them cooled the heat burning inside me, in the best way possible.

Suddenly she stood up and the chair slammed behind her with a loud thud.

“I have to go,” she breathed, her cheeks flushed.

She readied to bolt and I grabbed her right wrist. Her eyes snapped to where my big hand wrapped around her small wrist and a visible shudder rolled down her body. And when her eyes came back to mine, they were molten silver and full of desire.

Davina reminded me of an enchantress sent to seduce a mere mortal, one of the stories my short lived step-mother used to tell me. One night and I was under her influence. What the fuck would happen if I was around her for months?

“First, we settle this,” I told her, my thumbpad brushing her soft skin. Another shudder and her breathing turned shallow. “After watching me last night, did you touch yourself?”

She licked her lips, then shook her head. “The girls were in the room,” she breathed the explanation. And then she looked mortified that she let those words slip between her lips. “I-I mean… of course not.”

Too late,I thought smugly. God, she really was gorgeous.

She gently tugged on her wrist, but I refused to let go.

“Someone might come and see,” she whispered, her eyes darting around. I didn’t give a shit who came or saw me holding her hand. “I don’t want someone to get the wrong impression.”

“It’s my house,” I told her, a hint of possessiveness edged in my voice. “And I don’t give a shit about anyone’s opinion.”

“I have to go,” she attempted again, though feebly.

“First, we’ll come to an agreement,” I drawled. “You owe me a favor for the free show last night.”

Her eyes widened and she shook her head. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

“Fuck no. I told you it was an accident.” I’d give it to her, she was brave.
