I rolled my eyes at both of them. “Fine. We’ll see how good he is in real life.”

But I knew even as I said those words, sex with him would be explosive. Just thinking about last night made my pulse race.

“We should have a group chat going about the status of the day,” I suggested.

“Yes, that is a good idea,” Marissa commended, pushing me out of the bedroom. “You create it. Now you have to go.”

“Hold on,” I stopped. “I want to give a kiss to Emma.”

I cracked the door open and went to her bed. I pressed my lips on her cool forehead. She immediately stirred and a beaming smile greeted me, making my whole morning bright.

“Hey, beautiful princess,” I murmured softly.

“Hi Mommy.”

“Did you have good dreams?”

She nodded happily.

“I have to go to work early,” I told her and I already hated that our routine was broken. “Aunt Marissa and Aunt Daphne will take care of you today and tonight. But you can call me through their phone any time of day or night. Okay?”

I knew she wouldn’t be worried. She spent a lot of time with her aunts, they were part of the family.

She hugged me and I kissed her one more time. “Love you.”

“Love you too, Mommy.”

Five minutes later, my car seat was out of the Jeep since Mateo’s demand shuffled our entire morning. Marissa already ordered car seats last night so they would arrive sometime today.

It was exactly eight-thirty when the elevator door opened and I entered the top floor where Mateo’s office was. It was my first time up here so I curiously glanced around. It was odd not seeing many women. Marcus pretty much had only women on his floor. This floor was dominated by men. In fact, I hadn’t seen a single woman yet.

I lingered by the lobby in front of the elevator unsure which way to head. I scolded myself for the hundredth time for letting last night go so far as having phone sex. It was the last time I called anyone while drunk.

This would be so much less uncomfortable if that didn’t linger over me. I combed my fingers through my hair. I didn’t have time to blow-dry this morning, so I hoped it was fine. I would have rather put my hair up in a ponytail or a bun.

Maybe I should just do it?Damn it, this was nerve wracking now. Like it wasn’t bad enough I had to work for the mob boss, then I had to go on and have phone sex. Shit, now I was getting all hot and bothered.

I placed my hand on my chest hoping to cool off.

“Brianna,” a deep man’s voice shattered through me, and all my cooling simmered into flames. I slowly turned in the direction of the voice, and there he was. In his full glory. “I thought we agreed first thing this morning in my office?”

“Well, it is the first thing this morning,” I told him boldly. “Anything before ten a.m. is first thing this morning.”

He chuckled. Fuck, he was hot. He was in a dark three-piece suit, looking impeccable. I could see a gun holster peeking under his jacket. He seemed completely calm, unlike me. I wanted to push my fingers through his dark hair and wondered if it would be soft when I touched it. My cheeks were literally on fire.

“My office is this way,” he tilted his head and I walked towards him. He watched me, hunger in those green eyes, and I knew Marissa was right. He would fuck me first thing this morning.

I guess it wouldn’t have mattered if I blow-dried my hair. It would come out a mess anyhow.

He put his hand on the small of my back and guided the way through the wide, bright tiled hallway. His hand burned through my back, making my desire pool between my legs. God, what was this man doing to me? He was a bad guy. Totally hot but still a bad guy.

Who were we fooling? There was no way we would come out of this unscathed. I just hoped maybe it would only be me that came out scattered. If I could keep his focus on me, he won’t connect Marissa nor Daphne to any of the shit that went down.

We stopped and he extended his hand. He had a corner office, which wasn’t surprising. If he was the head of it all, he would have the best of everything.

I swallowed hard and entered his office. He closed the door behind him and locked it.

Yes, Marissa was definitely right. I lowered my purse onto the chair, then turned around to face him. He was right behind me, and I had to crane my neck to look at his face. I knew he was ruthless; I had heard many stories, but it didn’t diminish that he was also handsome. Very handsome and made me quiver with need on the inside.
