“Vai, vai.”Go, go. The aunts urged me to go and dance with him.

I lifted my dress up, and swayed over to him, with Marissa and Daphne on each side. I had no clue where they showed up from but I was glad since this was what we used to do when we went clubbing. Our steps were in sync and we grinned like fools.

Giovanni caught us sneaking into a nightclub back in the college, with fake ids. Before we knew he was there, he watched us dancing half of the night to this song and many others.

We started lip-syncing the lyrics, pointing at him.

“Oh you still remember,” he teased all three of us.

All three of us surrounded him, dancing and singing along the song. Giovanni was a smooth operator on the dance floor, although I couldn’t help but compare him to Mateo. Dancing with my husband was sensual, with Giovanni it was just fun and hip. He took my hand, moving in rhythm with me, our moves familiar. I often danced with him over the years.

“That is not how the lyrics go,” Giovanni shook his head, laughing.

“It’s my wedding day,” I told him, swaying. “Lyrics are whatever I say.”

“Ohhhh, burn.” Marissa slapped his brother on the shoulder, all three of us laughing.

Mateo cut in, taking me from Giovanni’s arms.

“Oh, husband,” I teased him softly. “You like this song?”

“With you, I like every song.” I wrapped my hands around his neck, and slowed down my movements. We didn’t dance to the beat but it didn’t matter.

I looked for Emma and she was dancing with Giovanni. Marissa went to the opposite side of the dance floor and was dancing with Declan. Antonio and Daphne were dancing just a few feet away from us.

“Are you ready to sneak out?” he asked me.

“Yes,” I laughed. “Let’s say bye to Emma first though. Giovanni will stay at the house with Marissa and Daphne too. To keep an eye on her.” I leaned closer to him. “Is that okay?”

“It is your house too. Yes, but Declan cannot go there.” He took a deep breath. “I know you mean well, but I don’t trust him. Until I am sure of his motives, anything with him will be on neutral territory. Not in our homes.”

“I figured and Marissa knows too.”

We held hands as we walked over to Giovanni. He was smiling, relaxed as he twirled a giggling Emma. Noticing us, he raised his head.

“Did you tell Mateo how I busted you three with fake ids in the club to this song?”

I grinned at my husband, his eyebrow raised. “No, but thank you for spilling the beans.”

“I had to confiscate their fake ids. But go figure, they had an entire stash of them.”

I laughed. “We didn’t do anything bad. Just went dancing.”

Giovanni gave me a look like he didn’t believe a word I said. “Just because I didn’t catch everything you girls did.”

I started to sing the song, just the way he liked it, grinning wide.

“That is not how it goes,” he groaned.

I stuck my tongue at him. “Like I said, my day… my song.” He just rolled his eyes at me, but he laughed right along with me.
