“NO!” Valencia screamed as she tried to stand from the chair. With her ankles tied, she fell forward and almost hit the floor. Her two guards immediately reached for her and stood her up.

“Sis!” someone shouted from the backside of the room.

We all looked over.

I gasped as I saw Deacon standing there with two very large guards. He had chains around his wrists and ankles. He still wore a suit though. It looked a little mussed but clean and expensive.

“I called Tito and had them bring Deacon down here,” Stephano said. “We need answers and he seems to be the only one to have them.”

“Deacon,” Valencia cried.

Deacon gave her a nod and a slight smile. Glancing over at Jarret then Redemption, he asked, “Why did you show her that video?”

“For the same reason you should see it,” Jarret snapped. “Film doesn’t lie. The truth was right there on video” Then he studied Deacon’s face. “Or have you already seen it?”

“He did have an intercept into our ranch URL feed for a while before I discovered it,” Logan told us. “So he probably has seen it.”

“You knew about this?” Valencia asked Deacon. “You said they murdered her.”

“And they did!” he exclaimed as he raised his hands and his chains rattled. “Or rather, mysupposedbrother did. He fucking drove her to it! He even handed her the knife, for fuck’s sake.”

“All the things he said…was that true?” Valencia asked.

Deacon slowly shook his head.

“Oh? Nothing to say now, Mr. FBI?” Glory snapped.

He looked over at Glory and smiled. “How are you, my firecracker cousin?”

“Psycho charm isn’t gonna help you here, cuz.” Glory glared at him.

Deacon actually chuckled. “You had to be drugged up when I had you. You bit one of my men so badly that he had to have six stitches and you almost crippled another. A true fighter.” He looked over at Liv. “Your cousin Liv became a Navy Seal and she trained in the CIA for fuck’s sake. You should do the same, Glory-be. Imagine the criminals you could beat up? Both of you are truly a credit to the Walker temper and fighting disposition.” He chuckled.

Amazing. The man had no fear. So charming too and articulate. I imagine he was above genius level as well. He spoke like he was just a part of the family and he admired the women for their courage. I admit it though, I admired Glory and Liv too.

“Wow,” Redemption said in disgust. “How can you talk about the Walkers like you regularly have supper with us or spend the holidays with us?”

“Right?” Liv agreed. “Did you forget about sending missiles to kill us all at the same time? Threatening babies and kids? And Ma even. How could you do that? Did you forget about the attacks on us and these repeated kidnappings?”

“Yeah,” Glory cut in. “Jarret was like what? Your fifth captive?”

“Let me see.” Liv held up her hand to tick off her fingers. She pressed her pinky down first. “There was Glory, Scarlet, Zed, Jewel, Ma and Jarrett, which you have to count Jarret twice really.”

I stared at her then looked over at Deacon. “You took all those people?”

He shrugged. “Now counselor, you know I should have my attorney present before I can say anything.”

“Wow,” Romeo spoke up. “You are quite the crazy, aren't you?”

Deacon stared at him, then he looked down at our joined hands. Gazing up at me, he asked, “You and him?”

I gasped at his audacity. Then I cocked my head at him as it suddenly occurred to me. “You knew! The day we met at the firm. You knew who I was.”

He smirked. “Of course I did.” He paused. “Well, not until I saw you. I mean you and my sister do look alike.”

“She is not your sister,” I argued. “Your mother took her. She pretended to be our nanny then she took her. Did you know that Valencia was taken from my family?”

For once, he had no pithy smartass reply.
