I bit my lip and felt embarrassed, especially since the entire place was full of bikers, Ma’s sons included. “Maybe I shouldn't have said it like that. But bikers usually aren't dating material, you know?”

Ma smiled as she shook her head at me. “They all ride but that isn’t all they are.”

Belle laughed as she elbowed me a little. “Yeah, like Fate. He rides a Harley but the man creates magnificent structures from handwritten dreams, so to speak.”

I raised an eyebrow at her and teased her, “Did you make that up just now?”

Laughing, she nodded. “I did but you gotta admit that was a pretty good one.”

Ma chuckled too. “It was very eloquent, Belle.” She looked over at me. “These Walker men and I mean all of them, are good hearted.” Reaching out, she patted my arm. “Bikers or not, they are all just trying to live their lives under hard circumstances. My family has suffered a heck of a lot over the last ten years. And I just want this to be over. I want to go back home to the ranch and hopefully most of the Walkers will come along too.”

“Most of the Walkers?” Belle asked her.

She nodded. “After this is all done, I don’t know who will want to come back to the ranch to stay. Jared, Liberty and Fate’s dad is gonna stay with me of course.” She gave us a huge grin. “Then my kids are all grown as ya know. But I sure hope I’ll be raisin’ some grandchildren at the old homestead.”

“So, what is happening now, Ma?” Belle asked her. “That was where you went, right? To that meeting?”

Ma nodded and let out a sigh. “They think Deacon might find out or has found out where we are.”

Belle and I both gasped. This was a scary bit of news for sure. Was there going to be a huge battle here or what?

“And what are they proposing to do about this?” Belle asked.

“We will need to split off into groups.”

We all looked over at Liberty who had answered this question as he came over to where we all stood.

Belle stepped over to him and took his hand as she looked concerned.

I looked up to see Fate standing there too. “So, we came here to hide and they followed us?” I asked him.

“No,” Fate replied. “They found a couple of his men out on the county road near Connor Bridge.”

“So, did these men actually say they were working for Deacon?” I asked.

“Again, no,” Fate told me. “They didn’t capture them.”

I felt really confused now. “Then how do they know they were even Deacon's men?”

“We are waiting to hear if they really were his men.” Fate shrugged. “Talon had them followed, because he didn’t want to tip Deacon off.”

“So, it isn’t for sure then?” Belle asked.

Both men slowly shook their heads.

“Talon seemed pretty sure that we were all gonna have to leave,” Ma spoke up.

I looked over at her then at Belle.

“Bridge,” Belle said as she stared at me. “It’ll be okay.”

Liberty nodded in agreement. “You, Fate, me and Belle are going to stay together.”

My gaze shot from his face to Fate.

Fate simply smiled at me.

Why did it bother me that he would be with us? I mean Liberty was his twin, so it would go without saying that they would stay together. I should feel nothing at all about it. He was just a guy. Just…a hot guy. A good looking guy, well off, and single who was always smiling at me. I slowly shook my head. If all of this happened and we had to leave Connor House, I would have a harder time avoiding him. “So where would we go?” I asked. “Y'all said that our apartments weren’t safe.”
